I wanted to jump back into poetry, and E. E. Cummings has had one of the top 10 poems I think about, (anyone lived in a pretty how town) when someone mentions poetry, so I thought I should read more of his work.

I love the way the words look on the page, feel in my mind and mouth. Love his experimentation with commas and grammar, with word structure. 'Darkestness' is such a good word. I don't have a favorite poem out of these. I think the romance, and religious bits, stuck out to me the most right now.

I really do think he's a good poet, but don't have many people irl to talk to about, because his grammar (commas particular) drive them crazy. I will be reading more, though and just purchased a collection of his poems (and one of walt whitmans) at a second hand bookshop. Although considering I delayed writing about 45,000 reviews who knows when I'll post about it, or when I'll get around to reading them as I have 7 library books due soon

Top 5 Wednesday: Naked Cover Books

Question of the day: What five books look better without their dust jackets?

I went through my entire library to find covers that were aesthetically appealing, but even though I read 100% of my books without dust jackets, very few qualified for this list.

One exception is Serena Valentino's Fairest of All, a novelization of the Evil Queen's story in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. One night, I was reading in bed and got irritated by the dust jacket. When I began to remove it, I found the grotesque, saucer-eyed image of the Wicked Witch staring back at me. This is one exception to my "no dust jackets" rule -- there's no way I could stand to stare at that face!

*Upon re-reading the T5W prompt, I realized that Fairest of All technically doesn't look better without its dust jacket, but it's still one of the cleverest book designs I've seen in a while.
