the 7 loves
You were my forever. All the firsts and the heart-wrenching lasts.
You sang to me sweetly, cigarette in hand.
We used to watch the Breakfast Club and make grilled cheeses. I couldn’t sleep if my body wasn’t touching yours.
You used to take your time. You’d sit and watch the sun go down with me, press your lips against mine, gleaming with joy.
The sun kissed your ivory skin, watermelon and spoon in hand, you smiled. God, I swore I’d never seen anyone so beautiful.
I remember holding your hand for the first time, we were walking back from my pond, you smiled this brilliant smile and continued to tell me about your day.
I remember thinking “This is it.” Those are the hands I want on my body, that is the person I want beside me. Not forever, no but for now. Your words filled me with hope, covered in sand you leaned over and kissed your girl.
