#80's nyc

The Grande Vaporwave Staircase, inspired by the interior design of McDonald's in 80's NYC. I appreciate McDonald's as an aesthetic. The iconography..the lore...the interior design concepts all align with my core-aesthetic.

I woke up one morning and really wanted a staircase for the dolls. After seeing what was offered online, I decided to create exactly what I envisioned instead of settling for less than what I envisioned. Which was something artificial, transparent and highly saturated in jewel tones.

I combined the organic with the inorganic, and saturated it with maximalist syrup. It doesn't get more "McDonald's" than that. Made of acrylic, an old Keurig coffee maker, glass, and a variety of flowers, herbs, lemons, and shrubs.

Models: "Daphne + Dhalia", the daughters of a rehabilitated and medicated Poison Ivy and...Lucious Fox. Gotham City's favorite environmentalist/supermodel nepobabies would rather go intergalactic club hopping or be anywhere else than Gotham, than fight or do crime. They are the god-daughters of Dr. Harley Quinzel, noted on again/off again "gal pal" of Poison Ivy.

In the upper left corner is La Bamba.

It later (1986?) became WGAF when Candy and Patti ran the place. Depending on who you asked the name stood for Who Gives A Fuck? or White Girls And Fags, It was a dark and smokey bar. The walls were painted black with gold ancient Greek figures painted by Tom K. Masha and I painted the bathrooms with green chartreuse lizards and swirls against black and gold. We all spent a lot of time in the restrooms back in those days. I would sometimes DJ/VJ with tapes I would edit on VHS. There were also a couple of "Home Shopping Club" events here.
