''New Universe'', 1986 As far as I know Marvel Comics attempt to launch a pre-conceived shared universe of inter-related comics was a commercial failure and has been pretty much forgotten by contemporary Marvel fans. It didn't help that this new line of comics had their creative teams moved around and/or swapped (creative teams that were already composed almost entirely of new staff) and that the parent company of Marvel was cutting costs as it was trying to sell the business (which was struggling, as Marvel often was) which hollowed out the budget for the new line of comics to almost pennies. Several of the titles in this "New Universe" didn't survive the first year of its existence, getting abruptly cancelled with the people involved either fired, moved somewhere else or choosing to leave Marvel ("creatives" have never been treated with kindness, appreciation or respect by any company that employes them so remember kids, "the working class and the employing class have nothing in common.") Anyway, I don't expect to see any characters from this line of Marvel Comics showing up on the Marvel cinematic universe. If you're wondering how these comics were you're in luck as someone uploaded the entire run (including the reboots) to the internet archive.

Consider this a kind of Marvel comics historical curiosity if you want.

woke up from a stress nap to see playing on my laptop some guys dressed like the Green Goblin and Magneto atop a parade float manhandling some rita repulsa-looking character* i've never heard of while Daredevil seemingly checks out a side door to hear what all the fuss is about. i was awake long enough to take a photo and then fell asleep again. this was during a televised Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1989 apparently

*edit: oh my god. please watch this. (also that's singer Melba Moore, not an OC they invented for the parade like i was possibly maybe thinking before)
