I like writing Fount as a repressed shadow milk. It’s fun.

Lounging on their bed, (Name) Cookie reads a book under the light of their bedside lamp. The night sky out their window is dark and the night chill graces their dough since they’re on top of, not beneath, their blankets.
They don’t mind the hour. It’s not the latest they’ve ever stayed up, and they’d like to finish this book before going to sleep. They don’t have much more of it left…
Their door creaks open and the Fount of Knowledge peeks inside. “…You’re still awake?”
They nod as they turn a page in their book. Without looking up they gently pat the spot next to them on the bed. It silently bends under his weight as he sits down.
His eyes bare into them as he tries to think of something else to say.
“Do you normally come in here when I’m asleep?” They tease, snickering a bit.
He doesn’t reply. So most likely yes.
“You should at least wake me up if you want my company.” They turn to him more seriously.
“You wouldn’t understand…” He lowers his head.
They scoff, “I absolutely won’t if you don’t let me try.” They sit up, flipping the book over to hold their position.
He doesn’t glance at them as they adjust themself to have a more serious conversation.
“Fount.” They lean over to look at his face. “May I give you a hug?”
That gets him to look at them. His eyes tell them he’s considering the question. Eventually he sighs and pulls them into a hug they very carefully return.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t get used to it.”
(Name) Cookie hugs him a little bit tighter. “I won’t.” They can practically feel him counting the seconds until they let go. “Wake me up when you need me, ok?”
“I won’t.” His reply is brutally honest, but exasperated like he’s begrudgingly agreeing. He relaxes a little bit more against them.
