In the way that I sometimes do I'm talking about anime again because I just finished 86 this weekend and holy shit, if that was not one of the single best animes I've ever seen in my entire life????
Honestly it kills me that I don't even know who I can recommend it to necessarily because it's such a heavy show and while I really enjoy that sort of thing, I don't know that many people want to watch what is essentially 23 episodes of institutionalized violence and spiraling PTSD
but oh my god
I don't even know what to talk about like the colors and the lighting? Absolutely incredible. The framing/camera angles, amazing. The sound mixing? I'm losing my mind. They were really good at using totally silent and/or scenes with no dialogue to make a point and I go nuts for that kind of thing
the visual metaphors....ugh....some of the scenes just gave me chills
(the second to last episode especially omg I was YELLING)
it was very good and also apparently made specifically for me
yes this is the show that I lightly joked about battle tactics the other day but honestly, I don't actually have a single complaint about anything in this show, it is a solid 10 out of 10, exactly perfect for what it is
I know that it's based on books and my roommate did request the first one from the library for me but having seen it in a visual format and seeing what they did with it, I honestly don't know if I think that the original books will actually be better? like obviously I love the characters and the story which naturally come from the books BUT I feel like the anime really knew what to do and having seen it, the books might disappoint
But I guess we'll find out whenever it gets here lol
Have you seen 86 Eighty-Six ? (2021)
Yes, I completed both seasons
Partially, I completed Season 1
Just a few episodes
No
Haven't heard of it

Kaie Taniya (エイティシックス) from the anime and light novel: 86 Eighty-Six (86-エイティシックス-) I know it’s an awful thing to ask. You’ve gone as far as you can go. You’ve taken us with you. So you should be able to forget about us. But knowing that… It still hurts. Staying here hurts. I’m dead, I want to go home. So… Shin. Our Reaper… Please, save us.
