1985 Amtoy introduced us to a gross-out humor toyline called Madballs. “Freaky Fun For Everyone!” The toys were tennis ball-sized rubber or foam collectible bouncing balls with horrendous faces and designs which had a fascination particularly on the part of boys; however, the toys only sold well as a passing fad. The series had various series and spawned a cartoon that was cancelled after one episode, a Marvel comic series, a video game on the Commodore 64 and action figures. The original 8 were Screaming Meemie (a baseball that had a huge mouth and tongue sticking out), Slobulus (a drooling monster with one eye hanging out that resembles Frankenstein’s monster), Aargh (a blue monster that totally looks like Frankenstein’s monster), Horn Head (a horned cyclops with a nose ring), Dust Brain (a mummy), Oculus Orbus (a simple eyeball), Skull Face (a skull….face) and Crack Head (a head with an exposed brain. I kid you not, his name is crack head). #88mphpodcast #88isback #podcast #videogames #irantradio #1980s #ilovethe80s #80sbaby #80stoys #80sshows #vintage #retro #madballs #amtoys #oculusorbus #hornhead #screamingmeemie #commodore64 @natabeans @brothersbearpodcast
