From Land to Port ll 97bottlesofrum
♠ -Caitlyn had never met anyone that could outwit her before, save for the infamous C that usually kept her on her toes and alert to the fact that she had yet to learn everything. How truly appropriate, she supposed, that another version of herself would be one of the only challenges she was uncertain she could face. Her mother had always told her that her pride would be her own downfall, but she had a suspicion that she never meant it like this.
She couldn't exactly hate her- this entity that clearly displayed all of her less desirable and aggressive traits, but she'd be a damn fool to ignore how dangerous she was. Intelligent and with a bad temper that she was usually able to be in check- it was as lethal a combination as could be in this situation.
She remembered, in memories only a few years old, truthfully, of the times she had dreamed of entering the legendary ports of Bilgewater if only to be exposed to a culture so very different than her own. These were just an outsider's fascination, as she had come to learn as she had developed experience in the true world of crime. True tales of pirates and bounty hunting were a lot more horrifying than most bothered to describe. At least, in her eyes.Perhaps its was that very horror that had driven her more aggressive counterpart here, in hopes that the chaos of this port would drive her away. But her heart was still with her, and her bravery allowed her to step into this town despite her lack of confidence. There was no way she could leave her to her own devices in good conscience.
She kneeled next to the fresh corpses that had been left behind, her eyes easily recognizing the handiwork of bullets from her father's rifle. These poor unfortunate souls had probably tried to jump her counterpart, she thought- someone who was not as hesitant about killing than she was."I'm sorry dad" she muttered, shaking her head lightly, addressing her favorite gun by her father's name as she happened to do at times "You were never meant used to be used this way. I can't believe I let that I let her take you away from Piltover..."
All she had in turn was her hextech revolver- not an ideal weapon for a place like this where she was certain many had far more effective and powerful guns. But she didn't have a choice. The last thing she wanted was for the trail to get cold.
She was rather certain she saw the head of red hair out of the corner of her eye, and she took a step to her side to address the woman that had come in front of her, if by no more than a cautious and a hand put on her revolver, ready to draw it if needed.
