Life is good, the first clip in episode 9 and to me the most underrated clip of the season. This is a clip that I rarely see anyone talk about but that touched me deeper than any other clip of the season. It’s raw, its emotional and so beautiful and I just need to make this post to tell each and everyone how much I love this clip.
The clip starts of with Isak sitting in his bed with his laptop in his lap researching Even’s illness. You can tell by the look on his face that he has had a rough night and he looks like hasn’t gotten a lot of sleep. You can tell how devastated and heartbroken he is just by the look on his face, and still he is sitting and researching about the illness of the guy that broke his heart. Despite Even not liking him back he still wants to understand the illness because that’s how much Isak loves Even. That to me is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
Throughout that sequence we can hear text after text receiving to Isak’s phone in which all are from Even that is desperately trying to apologise for his behaviour in the only way he in that moment he felt he could, which is through music (or in this case, through song lyrics) because I don’t think that Even really knew how to express himself after this so he lets music do it for him. Isak replies by telling Even to stop texting him because Isak is not ready to face Even yet. He wants to understand and process what happened before he meets Even again. Isak has realised is mistake from the locker room and now wants to get an understanding of Even so that mistake won’t happen again.
We hear a knock on the door and we see Eskild. Eskild also looks like he hasn’t gotten a lot of sleep which causes me to believe that he has stayed up the entire night with Isak. This but is such a beautiful scene in Isak and Eskild’s relationship because their brotherly bond is so strong and we really see Eskild being the bigger brother that Isak needs. Eskild gets that Isak isn’t feeling well, but is still not pressuring him to anything just making sure that Isak knows that Eskild is there for him, which is so beautiful.
After this we hear Isak receiving another text making us all think that it’s yet another text from Even. But to everyone’s surprise, the text was from Isak’s mother. Now this is the part that really made me bawl my eyes out because to me this is so beautiful. Up to this point Isak has been so incredibly scared that his mother won’t except him because even though he doesn’t really talk to her or live with her, her opinion still really matters to him. We know how much he has struggled thinking that his mum won’t accept him for who he is and who he loves, he’s been terrified.
When he then receives an acceptance from his mum a huge weight is just dropping from his chest and he sighs of relief and puts his phone against his heart and we see that single tear of happiness running down his face, I swear I have never cried that much to anything in my life. At that point that was exactly what Isak needed. When everything in his life seemed to go wrong and he needed love and comfort and then gets this from someone he really wasn’t expecting it from, it’s just so beautiful.
This clip is the only clip that was captivated me so emotionally that I started crying, that says a lot coming from someone that never cries. It’s upsetting to me how underrated this clip is because to me it’s one of the best. This is a long ass post but I just needed to share my love for it and hope that more people will see it.
