❛ we can be heroes just for one day. ❜
"It is a nice thought."
The library put on community events often to provide a way for demigods and deities themselves to get involved; lots of reading faires, career building workshops, small group lessons, book clubs, etc.. Bes didn't particularly enjoy the hustle and bustle of those things, preferring to help set up at most and then slink off when things started. His delicate senses disagreed with the sounds and sights of too many people- especially with the ordinarily high chances of comments and fascination directed towards his..... unique .... features. Casual appreciation he could deal with even when it became grating but having to tolerate the attention for too long always put him in a bad mood.
When it came to the children's events, though? It might have been surprising to learn who organized and planned those, considering kids were incredibly likely to do all of the things he hated the most where adults were concerned. It was obvious in watching the feline interact with them, that the children of the island weren't capable of doing any wrong in his eyes.
So here Bes was surrounded by the neat bins of arts and crafts materials he has put together, offering the cape he had rummaged through the giant box of costumes for.
"It's the least we can do."
Despite living on a magical island surrounded by magical people and magical gods, as a child himself, Bes hadn't found many heroes. For that reason the idea of teaching kids that they could be heroes instead of looking for them was particularly important to the librarian. He appreciated the help in putting it all together because as much as he would have tried, it was easier doing all of this with another person rather than alone.
"Have you thought of a good name yet?"
