Drum roll please... please welcome @courtorderedcake to the CSSNS!!!
Hello again everyone! Tonight we feature @courtorderedcake to the event! Everyone go say hi!
How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom?
a little over 6 months now.
When did you start shipping CaptainSwan?
The minute Hook appeared.
What drew you to this event?
Fairytales kept me afloat for a lot of my childhood and teen years. I have loved lore, myth, magic and story for as long as I can remember, along with the allegories they draw in our lives. Canonical fairytales are much different than what we see put forth by Disney, and even still what was transcribed in many translations - when you go deeper into the etymology of these tales, the origin of the deepest fears humankind has faced become clear in their base forms. Tinkerbell becomes a sharp toothed sprite that lures children into the marsh. The wolf in Red Riding Hood is far more terrifying when you remember that whole parties of men went missing in the woods she skipped to Grandmother's house in. There are many ways to be poisoned when royalty is involved, as Snow White and many of the usurped English will attest.
It's no secret I love angst, and it's no secret that I love darkness set in the backdrop of the OUAT canon. This drew me to it for the sheer depth, brutality, uniqueness, and beauty of the plots our Emma and Killian will find themselves in.
What inspired your topic?
I was given a book about Slavic fae lore that was decidedly not OK for a 9 year old. In it, Fae were broken down into how dangerous they were - and I fell in love. While not all of my stories are traditionally Fae, they are tales that have changed over the course of time or have been lost to make way for a more popular tale.
Some will be easily recognizable, while others will be either my own or very old.
All will contain my stylistic preferences.
If you would like to share a snippet/sneak peek/summary of your fic or artwork, please use the space below.
I'll get back to you. ;)
Court, you are very mean to draw us in like this and leave us hanging with no sneak peek... Court is a precious cupcake and a wonderful writer! I cannot wait to read her fae anthology! You can find her other works here. Everyone go say hi and welcome her to the CSSNS!!!
