Graduation  2020

@bugheaddrabblechallenge day 2 graduation day 

It was Graduation. 

They were finally going to graduate.  It was also the year of COVID 19.  There would be no sitting on hard chairs, throwing of caps.  Yet, you still had to wear it and the gown as well.   He slipped his beanie in his black jean pocket.  He saw his girlfriend Betty using her hairpins to clip in her cap.   He was happy they were going to graduate together. After the years they had. They survived and graduation High School together. 

That they didn't have to sit far away from each other because she was a Cooper, and he was a Jones. They got to sit in the same car. When their letter was called to get out of the car and go to the principal, get your diploma along with getting your picture taken.  Easy enough.  

He wouldn't let anybody know it, but he was happy to sit in the car with Betty on one side and Jellybean on the other.  Why his dad was looking happily at Alice. He wouldn't tell anybody, but he kind of liked having graduation this way in a car full of people he loved.

Missed opportunity 

Betty saw him.  Jet black hair under that crown-shaped beanie.  The bluest eyes the ocean wished they had that color.  The Sherpa jacket he wore like a 2nd skin.  She was going to march up to him, open her mouth, and say, "Hi." Veronica Lodge interrupted she swooped to Betty's locker before the Crown prince had.  She couldn't ignore her best friend, just to say, "Hi." It was a missed opportunity next time, she thought.  Next time she would say, "Hi." 

The next time it happened it was in Chemistry class, he was sitting alone.  She was walking to his desk when out of nowhere his friend Sweet Pea she thinks swoops in and sits next to him. Another missed opportunity. Betty was disappointed in herself. She wasn't shy in the least.  How hard is it just to say, "Hi, I'm Betty Cooper?" She was soon going to find out. 

She saw him at lunch reading a book a mystery from the likes of it.  His eyes turned towards hers and said, "Hey." This time there was the perfect time to get to know the crown-shaped beanie boy.

Wrong person

Jughead was told to look for a girl with blonde hair and green eyes

He mumbled non stop all he saw was blonde hair. She was suppose to pick him up for Archie. Archie was to busy with some girl named Veronica.

He saw one women looking at guys with black hair. Yet, she seemed too smart to fall for Archie's manipulative behavior.

He saw her look at one man with black hair and a hat, "Are you Jughead Jones?"

He heard laughter and the guy say, "I ain't no Jughead but I'll be him tonight! "

She was going to punch him when Jug stepped in, "Sorry wrong person"

He held out his hand, "I'm Jughead Jones do you want my drivers license to prove it?"

She smiled, "no, your blue eyes and crown beanie will do."

He heard her state, "I didn't use a sign because Archie said you'd be lurking in the shadows with black hair and a hat"

He laughed, "I was hiding out looking for a blonde with green eyes" he smiled wickedly, "I found you"

Under the bed

Betty was 10 and Jughead was 9 she was scared of the dark. She thought a monster lived under there.

Jughead wasn't scared of monsters. He was scared of his dad or not having food or clothes that fit.

So, he told Betty he'd sneak over before bedtime and sleep under there. Betty was over joyed.

He climbed in the window with his toy story blanket and a borrowed pillow from Archie's. He already had his pj's on. So, he smiled at Betty.

"ready Betty?" she nodded scared for him

He grinned, crawled under the bed, "Goodnight Betty." He heard her fall asleep. With the reflection of the night light he noticed caramels spot. Where she scurried in the night. 'that could scare Betty' he thought. A toy was dying and when she moved just right, it went off, "that too" he made notes and soon enough he was sleeping.

The next morning Betty awoke from her slumber by her mom, "who is sleeping under your bed?"

Betty rubs her eyes, "Oh that's Jughead he was helping me with the monster under my bed problem. "

"by sleeping under it?"

"yeah he's brave he must have scared them no monsters came"

Her mom looked at Jughead "wake him up for breakfast and tell him next time he wants to save you from monsters to use the front door!"

"yes mom." Betty hugged her as her mom turned to leave. She looked at her protector.

@bugheaddrabblechallenge​ day 1 all the prompts missing scene, heat wave and lost in the woods 

takes place after Jughead gets hit by the rock but before we know he’s alive.... 

mild angst and a little gore but if you blink you’ll miss it! 

                                          Checkmate

Jughead was in the morgue.  The morgue putting on fake make-up when  Betty walked in. 

"Oh, Jug, couldn't you have Jelly-Bean help you?"

"Betty, it's hard enough for me to wear this" When he was thinking, 'It's hard enough for me to relive it.' 

 He wasn't just thinking of getting beat by a rock; he was thinking of the beat down Penny gave him.  Yet, both were almost fatal; both of them he almost lost her. 

He wanted to put on this Halloween make-up like he was Eric Draven from 'The Crow.'  He was fighting for his life here. 

 He couldn't let  Betty or Jelly-Bean see him struggling with having to do this. 

His blue eyes looking at Betty fake blood on his face, "So do I look Dead?"

Betty nodded her head. She couldn't tell him, it was almost too realistic and she was having a hard time with that.  she whispered, "Yes."

It was hot when they brought Jughead to the spot for the drop. It was only her and Charles.  She hoped the fake blood would stay stinky and look real.  Just in case Archie didn't find her boyfriend first. 

 Jelly-Bean guarantees this is the blood they use in the movies, and amusement parks use it all the time during Halloween.  That gave her a little more confidence.  

Yet, with the rain and she was sweating, Betty just hoped the make-up stayed on Jug.  He was supposed to be dead after all.   Now was going to be her time to use her acting chops. 

Jughead thought, are they lost in the woods? 'Please don't get that Frozen 2 song stuck in your head.'  Thanks to Kevin singing it non-stop. We get it, Kevin and wood. 

 He was cold, this was chilly thanks rain!  He wasn't supposed to move, and he felt bugs crawling on him.  'Please don't be a spider,' he thought

 When he heard Archie's voice yelling for his dad.  He was thankful.  Mainly because the plan was working.  After this, his new location would be the bunker.

[Ice cream flavor] what's your flavor Betts

Jughead shrugs at Betty, "What's your flavor Betts"?

She smiles wickedly, "I got 32 flavors and then some"

She grabs his crotch subtly "I like this one" she purrs into his ear.

He chokes on his spit and stutters, "I... I... me.. mean.. meant I.. I.. Ice.. Ice cream Betts"

She giggles, looks down, "Oh that doesn't count? " she hears him weeze puts her finger on her chin, "Well if that doesn't count Cotton candy of course"

His blue eyes blink at her as he orders her the cotton candy ice cream.

[broken promises] I want a hat dad

He was ten when his dad promised to get him a new hat.

"Jug tomorrow okay boy?"

He smiled, "okay dad you promise?"

"of course Jug"

It never happened not after a month.

Jug asked Betty one day she smiled, "I'll get you it for Christmas"

He smiled, "you promise? "

"of course Jug we're friends"

He saw it his hat it was a crown shaped beanie, she handed it to him "Here you go Jug"

he smiled the brightest smile, "thank you Betts"

"my mom and I made it for you"

He was never going to take it off.  He hugged her. Betty was the only one he could count on. She always kept her promises.

Prompt 1 midnight at the swimming hole ~First time

He watched Betty and Archie splash around. He wanted to swim too, but he didn't know how. He had his life jacket but he was still scared.

Betty's green eyes looked at him, "Come on Juggie swim with us"!!!

"I can't, I'm scared" he shook his voice shaky

She smiled, and swam up to where he sat  "I got you we'll start off slow" pointing to his life jacket, "put that on"!

He would do anything for Betty Cooper.  He slowly got in the water and Betty was right there by him.

Prompt 2 Echo ~Caramel

Jughead heard a soft voice saying, "Caramel, Caramel mew mew"

Jug saw a white orange cat by his feet. He took the cat in his arms. The cat began to purr.

Jughead played along so he echoed her, "mew, mew"

Jughead heard, "Caramel is that you girl? mew mew"

Jug mewed back. Jug  saw her across from him. She was beautiful. Her face lite up. She ran towards him.

"Thank you. Thank you. That's my Caramel!"

Caramel wouldn't leave Jug's arms. He shrugged, "how about I walk you both home?"

she nodded. "Alright. I'm Betty"

Detention, Detention did I fail to mention Detention!

trying this drabble again... @hellodinoflower for the prompt and the challenge and @bugheaddrabblechallenge Day 4 prompt Detention 

Jughead walked into detention.   He told his teacher that his opinion was wrong.  Like what's the point of asking a question if you were going to expect me to follow you?  Yet, he didn't think he'd get detention over it. He looked at the room; he was the only one in it.  So, he chose the very back desk and put his head down; this was going to be a long 2 hours.

  Betty Cooper had an argument with Mr. Honey over her newspaper article, and it landed her in this mess.  She didn't have time for this.  Yet when Betty saw the grey crown beanie on top of a certain boys head.  She thought maybe I do as she sat down in the desk next to him.

Summary it was the prom unlike last year, there was no Gargoyle King or her father wanting to kill her. Instead, she had a secret harboring and hoping it wouldn't slip.

under the cut cause it’s angst I understand if you can’t read it. I just simply needed to get it out of my system. 

Betty and Jug were at their prom.  She wore a beautiful coral dress, and he was wearing a blue suit.  He looked good, and it made his blue eyes even darker. Seductive even.   She smiled at her boyfriend and said, "Jughead Jones, will you dance with me?" "Always Betty Cooper" It was a slow dance,   he smiled the  happiest smile she ever saw on his face, "I love you, Betty Cooper, and I can't wait to go to Yale with you, maybe spend the rest of my life with you." She choked Jughead was always so good at being truthful /sentimental. Betty was going to say, 'I love you too, I'd love that.' Instead, she said, "I kissed Archie," her worst nightmare revealed. His face fell, his eyes were gloomy Jughead removed himself from her. It just slipped out. He was walking so fast.  Betty stood there at; first, she ran to him, "Jughead, wait!" She saw a tear in his eye, "I loved you, Betty, and you betrayed me," he walked out. It wasn't going to be like last time.
