[S] Extended Zodiac: The Philosopher
Philosophy/Philosophies can generate morals; they can invoke new perspectives; they are left to that which is only pondered, and not everyone will have the same philosophies, if any, in regards to any one belief or otherwise.
From the Void, which is an ironically unexplainable absence of all–rather, a lack thereof–as well as a paradoxic [non-]existence for everything that has become and will become, there are countless insights into whatever we see as “life”. Within every space, there is a void/Void, no matter how small [or nonexistent] it may be; a blank canvas. Before things come to be, they are unknown. To speak of them would result in only one outcome: Nothing. Due to this, there is infinite /potential/–endless possibilities!–which, in turn, brings the human mind to doubt not only what can be but also what already is. Questions. Theories. All of this is due to an absence of knowledge–an absence of light/Light; the confirmed is not perfect, for there are holes and areas of darkness within practically every truth–not because it is FALSE, but because it is neither TRUE NOR FALSE.
This is my opinion on why The Philosopher is a part of those that are Void-bound, as well as why it is specifically the combination of Dersite-Fuchians, too. Of course it is but my own thoughts, and not everyone will agree, because we all have our own ideas about Philosophy and/or how/why it is applied and to what/for what. Even saying this, to me, it only further strengthens my reasoning for my thoughts on The Philosopher.
Homestuck Class Analysis: Knight & Page: Active/Passive
[Writer's note: I'm too lazy to go into detail with everything mentioned, as well as display what has not been mentioned, at the current moment; although I may fix this in the (far) future.]
Personally, I see Knights as those who exploit their aspect in themselves and “serve” it to others; I see Pages as those who exploit their aspect in others and are “served” it by those around them.
I don't wanna use Hiveswap, but it's like how Xefros ends up exploiting the Rage in Joey, the latter then serving that Rage to him. Maybe he's rubbing off that Page-y-ness on Dammek? Who knows. A great video, in my opinion, that expands on this [and more] is https://youtu.be/ANtPn4Xe2vg–totes give'm a follow!
We also have Tavros who “exploits”/brings out the freedom of others–specifically the ghost army–and how people “serve” him to provide what he lacks, though that serving may not always be good and can be more forced upon. *cough(?)VRISKA(?)cough*
Meanwhile, Karkat exploits the bonds of his session and uses that to bring others together–or at least attempt to do so. [Again, lazy boi typing this.]
Dave exploits Time with those stable timeloops and whatnot, using his capabilities to help his teammates and the rest of the session.
If I were to use a passive-active scale to define how they do so, I'd say this: Knights actively use their aspect by their own handling, “serving” others with it; Pages passively have their aspect brought out by the handling of others, being “served” his own “medicine”/aspect by others.
If you go by those defintions, then it depends on whether you think the Knight's personal handling makes him active or the Knight's serving/aiding others makes him passive; whether you think the exploitation of others makes the Page passive or the Page receiving it from others makes him active to rise up makes him active.
In my opinion, Knights are active and Pages are passive.
Maid of Time: Lazy analysis.
Maids usually start with a deficit in their aspect, relying on others to provide for them; unlike Pages, however, who bring out their aspect in others and must overcome challenges by “looking up” to those around them. Rather, Maids are seen to be in a controlled state before they develop, following/dragged by their aspect the way others present it to them.
An [excellent] example of this is our resident Maid of Life, Jane Crocker. She first FOLLOWED The Condesce and things the Corporation advertised, her LIFE being dictated by the very thing she was practically born to praise. Far later in the story, she was CORRUPTED by the Batterwitch's advertisement-unfriendly {see what I did there?} crown.
Heroes of Time tend to be filled with perseverance rather than determination the majority of the(ir) time {lololol}–though nearly identical, perseverance is much more present since, as it goes, Time players experience lots of struggles in their lives; what differentiates them from others is the fact that they will attempt to use their strength(s) to /overcome/ every obstacle, regardless of how minute [whereas Life players try to remove and/or destroy what blocks them. (A Time player leaves rubble behind; a Life player didn't even leave dust in their wake.)] Time players can be impulsive, seeing as how they are the type of people to see results as the most important factor, not the steps that work up to said conclusion.
Therefore, a Maid of Time will/can start off in several ways:
-They will never have time to themselves because they are constantly using however much others say to whenever told.
-They will never have time to do important things since they waste their attention on the goals of others/the goals others have put in front of then, which may or may not be important; and may or may not benefit themselves, others, or...anything.
As they progress, the Maid will both learn to/have to create time for themselves in order to reach agendas they couldn't get to doing before, or ones they are only now setting. Specifically SBURB-wise, since Maids have to die in order to reach this point, they will most likely shatter from being unable to fulfill somebody/something else's goal with the final bit of time they are provided; if they can pick themselves up afterwards and start fresh, they will become determined individuals who know how to balance multiple things without a delay being present, or at least have enough control to take their time reaching a point.
