Project idea: build the next PC gaming system OS specifically for custom-built desktop computers
"But portability! Why not Java everything? Cross-platformitization web 2.0 apps apps apps everything rod so far up my ass that it can watch me spew Java-stained shit everywhere oh god it's awful please let me just have my interoperability and flexibility standards!"
That's exactly the point
Did you know that Java runs on a virtual computer, and every one of those virtual computers is designed to be the same?
Did you know that there's a Java virtual machine designed to run on a Java virtual machine?
Isn't that kind of fucking retarded?
Did you know that computer software is already layers and layers and layers of abstraction upon abstraction upon abstraction just to make programming easier for someone?
Your computer could be running so much faster if there wasn't all this fucking bullshit in the way.
Imagine a tiny pinion gear, spinning a larger gear, spinning a larger gear, spinning a larger gear, spin- you get the idea. The largest gear is your user experience. It could've been lightning fast, but no; there's all those fucking gears in between.
25 years ago, having the fastest possible algorithms was actually important, because computing power actually costed money, but now it seems to be acceptable to run everything in a web browser - which is already clunky. Google had the right idea with ChromeOS (not sure if that's still up) in which the entire OS was the browser. That was it. That was going to be the next big thing, because everything is done in a browser now. Probably didn't catch on because reasonably-priced mobile Internet access would be necessary, and telecom companies don't want to give up gouging holes in your wallet.
Internet lag is another thing, and that is also mostly due to telecom bandwidth throttling.
The next thing is to cut out the middle man and learn how to connect to the Internet using your own cables and the computers in your neighbourhood.
popular opinion: everyone is a twat except my friends
> people complaining about homestuck jokes about meteor impact in Russia
jesus how did you not see it coming
also raises questions about the homestuck fandom, like "what have they done to be so despicable"
there'd better be a really good reason
I may have been a little too subtle or close to the truth in my parody of the gun debate.

YOU NEVER KNOW~!
YOU MEAN I COULD GET A SURPRISE VISIT FROM THE HERPES HARPY?!!
