hi! i’m rereading AL(B) and i wanted to make a note of this part of chapter 6: Although I do think something is happening on the lower levels. Do you notice how the echoes sometimes respond to a sound that… wasn’t there?”
i don’t know if you’ve read house of leaves but there is a chapter fairly early on dedicated to the science of echos and how people and animals use them to comprehend space around them when other senses fail
idk if this was your intention but i couldn’t help but think about the opposite; being in an entirely dark spot of the lighthouse and shouting out expecting an echo and getting *nothing* back. idk
i love ALB and i wish i could read it for the first time again it’s so soft but also has horror elements i adore <3
hello hello! 🤍🤍🤍
oh I ADORE that image: echoes that never arrive, darkness that envelops… and the absolutely key question of what happened to all the space that was just here?
this also reminds me that I’ve had House of Leaves on my dresser for uh, at least a year. and I should absolutely read it. and now is the perfect time to start.
also ahhhh THANK YOU I am so delighted you found the lighthouse story worth re-reading, and that it brought you joy 😭😭😭
I wish that I had not read a lighthouse (burning) so that I could sit under my blanket and read a lighthouse (burning) for the first time.

No ask, just a thank you from the bottom of my heart for your life-changing fic a lighthouse (burning). It feels like the whole world is burning right now, but your work completely transported me to that time, that place. The achingly slow reveal of both the mystery and their relationship was just perfectly paced. And when they finally admitted everything to one another….well, it was everything this ineffable shipper could have hoped for. Sweet and tender and FUNNY (they’d always be funny, wouldn’t they?) and fierce all at once. It brought back memories and feelings of the beginnings of relationships of my own - but somehow mine were never this good yet it’s all I want for those characters. Really what I am trying to say is I admire you and am so grateful for your talent and all the time you invested. Thank you.
😭😭😭
AAAAAAAAAAAH THANK YOU SO MUCH I AM SO HAPPY!!
