Interruption || Amelia & Remus
Prompt: Your muse walks in on mine re-decorating their room
Bending over a heavy trunk, Remus was shifting through a scattered collection of maps and newspaper clippings. Over his head on the cramped, slanted ceiling of the bedroom that the werewolf occupied within the shared flat lay a haphazard display of parchment. From a distance, it could have been a collage of sorts; to anyone outside the Order, it was charmed to appear as little more than clippings. However, to those select few able to see it, printed on the pages were the events of the past year in bold headings, with additional writings scribbled in a messy, slanted font that grows increasingly more narrow and ink-blotted as the page continues.
Left hand brushing up against the corner of an old photograph, the edges of his eyes crinkled as he glanced over the faded still of his mother holding up one of her prized vegetables as his father gazed back at the lens with a wide grin. Remus couldn’t remember the last time that he had seen that smile. It was a sharp contrast to the loud headings that screamed murdered, death, and war above them.
A few Order Members had gathered at the shared flat to discuss a project with Sirius, and he had excused himself after half an hour under the guise of a headache. While this wasn’t exactly a lie, and the pull of the moon was threatening to turn his stomach even as he remained still, he also knew enough to understand when he wasn’t needed. Rubbing his thumb against the paper for a moment, the werewolf didn’t notice the sound of footsteps down the hall. Therefore, it came to a surprise for the werewolf as the edge of his door was nudged open, a voice calling out into the quiet room.
Jumping at the sudden noise and knocking his head against the hard metal edged lid of the trunk, Remus hastily dropped the photo inside, his hand reaching to hold his head as he turned to face the doorway.
“Hey, Amelia.”
Smiling awkwardly, the werewolf let the trunk close quickly behind him, shutting out the contents from sight as he continued in an attempt at being casual.
“Sorry this place is a mess. Lily says it’s in desperate need of re-decorating.”
