Pride. Strength. Protect.
It's late when Scott finally leaves the confines of his bedroom. He doesn't say anything though, only moves until he can settle on the couch beside his brother, pressed impossibly close. "'m sorry," Scott says and it sounds like he might've been crying, but only because he knows he disappointed his Alpha. "'m sorry, Der."
Derek only awakens when he feels the couch dip, the cushions causing a wave and jostling him just enough to make him bolt up a little bit. He shifted, blinked the sleep from his gaze, scrubbed it away until he froze hearing the sound of his brother’s voice. “Scott,” His own tone was a little scratchy from his slumber, but it strengthened. “You don’t have to be sorry, it’s fine.”

[text] youre the best bro :)
Derek paused in the middle of the store, looked over those words again and again until they were burned in his brain. He needed to hear those words, the reformation, to know that he was doing some good at this.

"Ouch!"
Send me “Ouch!” for my muses reaction to your muse hitting them in anger.
Never in his life had Derek taken the blunt blow from his brother. Sure, there had been rough wrestling and the few times they argued and walloped on each other’s upper arms, but it was never something to hurt or maim. It was there to annoy. Just like brothers were supposed to do to one another. But not even when the eldest was still an Alpha, had he or his brother ever rose a hand in anger toward the other because they understood how dangerous that could be. They understood what it could trigger and what dark thoughts it could feed. Being an animal, they’d learned from an early age never to let their anger get the best of them for fear that the wolf would take over and leave their humanity behind.
But things were heated, they’d been that way since those hunters had began to camp out in Beacon Hills. There wasn’t really anything they could do about it but sit away, hide, because going at them head on would get them both killed. And being caught up with one another inside of the apartment, it was grating on nerves and leaving them irritable and violent and falling prey to the instincts of their beasts.
Derek wasn’t helping, the soul contributor to the poor mood in the house. He was still having a hard time comprehending being a Beta, still didn’t know what boundaries he could cross and others that he couldn’t, and he was challenging Scott. It was there and blatant and finally the Alpha snapped.
His brother had been gnawing at him for close to an hour when those eyes bled crimson and in one solid reach Scott had sent Derek back on his ass, landing heavy on the kitchen table and splintering it in two. And al at once, everything in the house got quiet and there was just the shared look of disbelief reflecting between the brother’s eyes.
"Derek I—"The Beta ripped himself away from his brother’s reach, defiant, but there was that obvious slope to his shoulders and quiet whine that showed his submission to his Alpha. Scott tried to reach again but Derek evaded that too, shuffling back and moving out of the room to lick his wounds.
"Just leave me alone, Scott."
The blood just won't seem to stop coming. No matter how much pressure Scott puts on the wound or how hard he begs Derek to just start healing, nothing is working. Nothing is /working/. "You have to fix yourself, Der," Scott begs. "You have to, okay? 'Cause you're not gonna leave me, you said you wouldn't, not ever. So heal. /HEAL./"
Everything hurt, something so much deeper than the gouges ripped through his chest, exposing torn muscle and fractured bone, it was soul deep. The Alpha coughed roughly and was not even a little surprised to taste blood on his lips, feel fresh pools frothing up at the back of his throat. “S-Scott,” He keened, unable to hide that whimper as his brother pressed hard into his injuries, choking on a sob as the pain just scraped harder and worse. “Please, Scott, S-Stop that fucking hurts.” Derek just wanted a moment to be selfish and let the pain tug him under the veil of blackness, be it death of unconsciousness, he wasn’t sure. He just wanted the pain to stop. God, please, just make it go away.
But the sound of Scott’s voice, it forced him to hold on to that pain. Because he did promise, and he knew he couldn’t break that. Not to his baby brother. He wasn’t ready to go just yet. He had too much to do. “It’s going to be alright…buddy, c’mon. It’s okay.” He groaned and shuddered a little violently, snapping his eyes shut as he breathed out harshly. “Just…call Deaton, okay? We need Deaton. Can you do that for me? I know you can, buddy.”
