He listened carefully and with the utmost attention. Truth be told, this wasn’t his intention. Lucas just hoped saying such would catch her off guard and allow him to change the subject. He never meant for her to bring up such memories and allow herself to be hurt like this. The least he could do was listen and learn of the pain he brought up. Still, he regretted asking immediately.
Wasn’t sure when he sat up, but he knew he couldn’t help but sat still when she finished for a moment. He made himself stare as her eyes slowly grew glossy at the memories because it was his fault. That’s what he was best for, wasn’t it? Bringing pain to people, even the ones he cares about. But, truth be told, even though he deserved to have that sight carved into his memory, he couldn’t take any moment of it.
He had hardly realized he had moved until his arms were around her, holding her as close as she would allow.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered softly, “I shouldn’t have asked.” Whether he should have or not is not really the point, but the pain he’s caused is enough to make him regret having done so. “Please forgive me,” he asks still.
Eyes widened as he reached over and embraced her, the action touching her deep to the core. How long had it been, since someone she cared for comforted her in such a way? Sniffing softly, she wrapped her arm around him and returned the embrace tightly, closing her eyes as she did. Hearing him speak softly, she shook her head slowly.
-”It’s alright... I forgive you,” the Sorceress murmured quietly, wiping away the escaped tears as she laid her head against his shoulder. -”I shouldn’t have brought the subject up...It was foolish of me to do so.” And it was. The pain in her chest was unbearable, the memories being rather harsh for her emotional psyche at that moment. It seemed it backfired on her. The pinkette did not learn anything new. She was only reminded of one thing: she still couldn’t get over the past. It still had power over her.
Pulling slightly away, she offered a bright smile as she finished wiping her damp eyes. Placing a hand on his cheek, a slight caressing occurred as she spoke as she chuckled softly. It was upsetting her even more that her own sorrow was influencing him in a way, she saw it reflected in his eyes.
-”Forgive me for acting so emotional.”
