a note, that i never thought i’d have to make: this blog is, and always will be, distinctly unfriendly towards weirdos with blogs dedicated to serial killers and other awful people, and if you are one, you can catch a SWIFT FUCKING BLOCK. i personally recommend you seek therapy, or perhaps consider dedicating your attention to someone who isn’t absolute scum.
gentle reminder that i am always taking suggestions! it may take a while for me to post them, but they’re always super helpful. i’m especially looking for: italian, spanish and portuguese-language media, southeast asia-based stuff, media set in australia and new zealand, and really anything set in any african country!
as a french-speaking north american, the above tend to be the holes in media i can find, that don’t tend to be as easy to find on tumblr, but i’ll take any suggestions really.
stay safe, wash your hands, take care of each other. <3
i’m trying to do a series of faceclaims based on very specific time periods, so if anyone has suggestions of characters from movies + tv shows (or movies + tv shows w tons of people of colour) set in the 1920s that would be very helpful!
breaking the brief hiatus that i was on to say:
vote bernie
wash your hands
support indigenous land defenders
(regular content returning soon. i’m a university student, did you expect this blog to be consistent about posting??)
are there any eras or things you would like to see people send in?
i’d honestly love for people to submit anything i’d missed! stuff that’s especially helpful to send in since it tends to be outside my sphere of media are:
anything from australia or new zealand
also more obscure stuff from the uk that isn’t ~popular on tumblr~ or on netflix is helpful
everything spanish or italian language!!
non-korean asian period dramas, especially non east-asian stuff!
hulu or amazon prime exclusive shows (i only have netflix, so i have no idea what i’m missing there)
If you were to recast the women of LOtR as women of color with some fantasy or historic resources, who would you suggest?
this is a question after my own heart! i’m going to come up with suggestions for eowyn, galadriel and arwen.
for the elves, i’ve seen a few people suggest east asian cultures, and i quite liked that! zhu zhu would make an incredible arwen, as her character in marco polo shares a similar colour palette to arwen in the films. going by that, of course, i could see gong li or joan chen as galadriel, her grandmother. alternately, i think ruth negga could make a beautiful galadriel, with madeleine mantock or angel coulby as arwen.
for eowyn, i’d love to see jamie chung, oona chaplin, aiysha hart, or claudia kim!
