it's been on my list for a while but I finally listened to tiger's blood by waxahatchee

incredible album in 2024, amongst a year of standout albums. alt americana tinged with an indie folk rock twang, with masterful lyricism that taps this incredibly visual poetry, it's just such a well-realized sonic diegesis. tigers blood feels like such a tightly executed body of work where every piece just hits the right beats in this gestaltian synergy. crutchfield's brain-scratching soaring/breathy/twangy vocals are perfectly buoyed by her backup band and cook's warm and sensory production, and then on top of it all the lyrics are so maturely and wisely crafted. from 3 sisters as the opener to tigers blood as the closer, this album feels like driving into and out of one of rural america's towns built around a freeway where the most prominent visual structures are gas prices and chain restaurant logos flying high as flags - not passing through, but coming home. 8/10 album for me
