      noonien has to restrain himself from rolling his eyes at bell’s retort. any other time, he might not have done so, but he knew the man has a lot on his mind. he’ll allow it just this once.

      he’d seen firsthand how close the CEO had gotten to lane & he’d witnessed it all come crashing down. he can’t quite say he’s SURPRISED by the turn of events, but he can’t quite blame him for the way he acted either. he’s still a bit furious, of course, but he figures he can set that rage aside for a night to let the poor man breathe.

      “ while i admire your skepticism & foresight to take caution in trusting strangers, i assure you that if you choose to place your trust in me, i will not disappoint you. ”   though, if he was being completely honest with himself & with chakotay, he is uncertain that statement is true. while he is dependable, he acts with logic. & at times, the logical course of action is not always what others deem an acceptable response.
