The dog days are over
Abbendis sat on the bed, his eyes droopy from the lack of sleep. His eyes focused on the wooden dresser for some time. His right leg half asleep from Aaria sleeping on it. Every now and then he reached down, touching her neck ever so gently to get a reading of her pulse. He was ruffling through some papers that he retrieved from his desk prior to returning to his chambers with Aaria. An envelope fell, it had a golden flicker to it and it was sealed perfectly. An emblem emblazoned onto the seal, it had a hammer being held by a circular crest, spikes protruding from the outside. He thought to himself, "Twilight?" He carefully opened the letter. Concerned as to how it got to his possession. As he opened it, there was a letter inside, he pulled the letter out, opening it up with a perfect scripted writing that seemed familiar to him, it read: "Abbendis Mercle, I have seen the greatness you can do, I have been watching you since you were little. We grew up together, perhaps you don't know it, but I still have my left eye on you. As much as you have been doing greatness for your people now, I know of your weaknesses and I know how to bring your demise. Just be cautious of what you do and who you are around anymore. I would hate to see something happen to you." He quickly looked to the bottom to find a signature. Nothing. He began to panic, he threw the letter. Could it be? Is the person he is thinking of really back? He tried not to squirm too much to wake Aaria. He dropped all of his paperwork onto the ground, covering his eyes as he reached up pulling at his hair. He threw his head back into the wall, looking back at the wooden dresser, he knew that this was the beginning of the end. He began to play with Aarias hair, hoping that it wouldn't wake her, but comfort her. And as an end result, comfort him.
