Happy to not participate in Capture the Flag, Nathan grimaced at the state of the Top Dogs as they wandered back from the field. "All that running? Yeah, not for me and my bowlegs." Nathan said as he finished off the warm beer he'd sat down with, "I wanted to ask you something though, it's about this halfblooded, he's a dhampir. I made him take a leave a few months back and I'm still not sure if I made the right call." Abel was a senator and a sovereign, he'd been a watcher and a marshal, he'd get it and hopefully have some kind of advice for him.

As it turned out, Micah was good at this. This being the whole salesman and customer service thing, he could talk someone's ear off and they'd end up leaving with twice as much as what they thought they'd needed when they came in. Awareness was key, what they wanted spoke about interests and necessities, Micah had picked up a lot since he'd started here and at this point he knew just about everything like the back of his hand. He wanted to take that next step with Emory, but there were a lot of closed doors in Micah's face: he had less than a year of employment experience and zero assets, it didn't take much to understand why a bank would see him as a liability.

The bell above the door chimed with finality as the last customers of the day trickled out a bit after close, bags of things they never knew they needed in either hand. "That's the last of them," Micah said with some resolve as he locked the door and flipped the sign over. Inventory and resetting the shelves was part of the gig, but before Abel headed out for the night Micah had wanted to catch him. "can I uh- can I talk to you for a minute? I've had something on my mind for a while now and I kinda wanted to run it past you."

"What, no dancing?" Nathan joked, his jacket had been open since they'd got here so there was no need to work over the buttons before he flopped down into one of the biggest couches he could find. "This is insanity." Came the senator's comment, the pulsing music, the drinks, the... Everything. There was a lot going on here and Nathan felt very old because of it. "We're not staying the whole time, right?" Murder She Wrote was on at midnight.

Apparently Octavian had done one thing right, he'd released those recently trapped within the book's bindings. Emma supposed Abel's soul and the souls of so many others could be likened to undigested food, purged before it could be made into the necronomicon's proper nourishment. A pleasant thought, but with no body to return to, and with Death still holding people ransom, there was nowhere for people like Abel to go. Not yet, anyways.

"I've been looking for you." Emma commented, she was an interloper here, this blank, empty space of white ephemeral. She'd died, quickly, and painlessly. That was more than others were given, but this time when the end had come for her, a piece of the faiman turned ghoul had asked to stay. A reaper. Emma had come to see them when she came back, there were so many hidden from purview, they lined the streets but took no one, they stood shoulder to shoulder with the Allies but at most helped them back to the feet after they fell.

They were waiting.

"You deserved better." But nobody ever got what they deserved, not really.

The Eye was the last place that Nathan wanted to be again, he hated that there were people that he recognized, and he hated that he knew his way around as well as he did. His escort followed him into the laboratory but truthfully Nathan knew the way by virtue of knowing the layout of these upper levels. It had been a long time though since the cambion had been one of their lab rats, in the bowels of the orphanage with the convent of nuns above. Back then it was for a greater good, the fact that they were using the same rhetoric now was not lost on him.

When Nathan was back out of the sterile air and into the warmth of the sun it was always disarming. Lock manipulation was a useful power, capable of far more than most realized: good for everyone else maybe, the war effort and all that, less so for him. The cambion would be going into the belly of the beast, he'd never done anything worthwhile in his life and this felt like going from zero to a hundred.

"Did you ever think either of us would be standing here?" Nathan gestured vaguely around The Outpost, all things considered it was a little ironic, the cambon refrained from making a joke about it though. At least out loud.

"So I uh... I got hired to do a job." Nathan admitted as he shovelled some oysters down his gullet. "I guess there's a demigod who had something stolen last year, some mirror the witches were giving out last year at that vigil, feel like breaking some rules with me or-?" Yes he'd said he would turn over a new leaf but this was basically using his powers for good: yes he was stealing, but he was stealing and giving back from the person that was stolen from. Very charming, handsome, and Robin Hood of him.

All-in-One was a staple for the witches of Rome, Ezekiel had maybe been ten or eleven when he'd shown up here the first time - trailing behind a group of Amaranthus apprentices that had begrudgingly taken him along. Magic still felt so new to him then. Years went on and new ownership moved in but the shop remained, and Ezekiel returned every few weeks or every couple of months. Trial and error through his own failed attempts at brewing potions, or to pick up orders that the coven had placed to try and be useful to them. He never really had been, magic didn't really come naturally to him until he was turned.

The door to the shop closed behind him and somehow Ezekiel thought that the place was going to feel different - it'd been about a year since he'd last been inside but everything more or less seemed the same. That was crazy to him. Rhiannon had said something to him that had stuck out - about mortality and life, how much of the people he'd known would be gone before he realized. She'd given him a lot to think about. Plus, that fucking blood orgy was insane and he was hoping for a magical remedy to help cleanse all the fey blood he'd drank.

"Hey man." Ezekiel greeted, Abel had always given off the same vibe as that Ben Affleck meme where he was smoking a cigarette. Just a guy that was always completely done, kind of comical really. "Long time."

Somehow Micah had made it through the festival sober, he’d left early to go talk to his sponsor and find a meeting but that was more to do with Farenduil - and it hadn’t kept him from getting pulled into the labyrinth. He couldn’t really think about his actual father without wanting to go to the nearest bar, so Micah was focusing on the things that he could control: work, and the relationships in his life that were still positive. People like Abel, Abel who’d always been there for him even when the faiman made it exceedingly difficult to do so. “You alright?” Micah asked, he’d noticed that Abel was more or less absent from the shop lately, he looked haggard. Which was maybe to be expected. “You just uh, you just seem like there’s something on your mind.”
