Lego Librarian knows that the City of Aberdeen is famous for being the birthplace and childhood home of Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. While in #AberdeenWA #legolibrarian stopped in the Kurt Covin Memorial Park which is nearby his childhood home. It is a small park with an under the bridge graffiti area in a residential area. The people that were there on a Sunday afternoon seem to be a combination of locals and folks paying homage to #KurtCobain There is a guitar holder that holds his air guitar, a memorial sign, a statue with a real guitar and a sign in the neighbors yard which is pretty amusing. #legolibrarianexplores also went the short distance to take a photo of the privately owned house where Kurt Cobain grew up. #kurtcobainmemorialpark (at Kurt Cobain Memorial Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chk7Qi-vzw9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Kurt Cobain: Exploring Aberdeen

The Melvins, enjoyed pseudo success in the late 80's, coming out of the small logging community of Aberdeen, WA.  Punk rock kids from their area flocked to their shows and even volunteered to act as roadies.  Among them was a shy, artsy kid named, Kurt Cobain.  By the beginning of a new decade, Kurt's band, Nirvana, would grow in to the most successful rock band in the world.  Sharing the spotlight was never apart of, The Melvins, plan.  They were suppose to be the hometown boys who made it big.  Interviews from throughout the years show a hint of bitterness and jealousy, even if one must read between the lines.

The latest additions to my @sarah_crowest strap on painting/apron. I haven't quite finished with the text. Sarah uses a lot of text in her work, so it seemed appropriate and it relates to the map. I did a class that included using free machine embroidery for applique with @margieandbert at Willaura Modern recently, which led to the addition of a rose (from a vintage floral sheet) and another tea cup made from part of an old doiley.
