Oshi No Ko Episode 27 Review - What Even Is Television?
It was a nice episode that gives an insight to the cosplay world and copyrights. While it’s brief, it does show that the cosplay world isn’t all rainbows and romantic like how My Dress-Up Darling portrays it. Sometimes, it can be a degrading job because of the lack of respect. While brief, I did like the insight on why Japanese people can be strict on copyrights, especially creators like mangaka.
While some people are going crazy over how Ruby is much more manipulative than Aqua, I’m just confused on how this girl just had an increase in 50 IQ points when she had always been portrayed as a bit ditzy and not as intelligent as her brother in the beginning. Heck, we’re not even sure how she does in school academics-wise. The only reason why Ruby seems scarier than Aqua is because she’s behaving like a chunnibyou edge lord teenager; remember that her past life was a sickly twelve-year-old girl who never went to school.
Still, I did feel bad for Meiya who had to endure the sexual harassment from Urushibara. Sometimes, people be saying anything for clickbait and views. It just shows the cruel reality of how old generation and the new generation’s mindset works. If anything, I feel bad for Yoshizumi the most because he’s the AD, meaning he witnessed the harassment but has no power to stop it because of his position as the lowest in the hierarchy. It also showcases how toxic the Japanese workplace environment can get with the seniority and superiority complexes and such.
It was also nice seeing Abiko again! The reason she’s strict with her IP is that she doesn’t like it when her female characters are R34-ed, which is understandable. It was also nice seeing Kana again as she’s the temporary reporter for the interview; since Abiko is a fan of Kana’s, it works in their favor.
Meiya is voiced by Yu Shimamura who voiced characters like Cure Flora from Go! Princess Precure and Jellymon and her evolutions from Digimon Ghost Game. It’s too bad that she’s just a minor character because she’s really pretty! Still, it’s crazy how some minor characters in this anime are voiced by big-named voice actors.
Overall, the lesson this episode brought about is that some things can blow up, even if you think they’re trivial. Basically, this is like Akane’s being canceled back in Season 1, but not as severe as there’s a team working to resolve the issue this time around. Anyways, let me know your thoughts on this episode.
