Big Boss, by some manner of freakish genetics - resists radiation. He was exposed to radiation as a teenager in a nuclear weapons test, and managed to walk away merely sterilized and pissed off.

He was exposed to the detonation of the Davey Crockett tactical nuke, he's been around more nuclear weapons and nuclear testing and he is not riddled with cancer and blood diseases and nobody knows why.

I don't think it's a total resistance, but it's not nothing. His genes, however, are still damaged. He just doesn't have shit wrong with him. His genes will, though - so go ahead and just stick them in everything.

The point is that Big Boss' evil seems to stem from compassion. A world where no one is forced through what the Boss went through.

But that itself is rooted in selfishness. It's about soldiers being something he has. Something he can keep.

He doesn't want soldiers to never suffer needlessly again. He wants soldiers to suffer for whatever personal reason they have or he has.

The Boss betrayed him. He's building an army that never will, built on unshakable loyalty.

It's not about making the world a better place. It's about making the world better suited for him. He can't let the battlefield go, so he builds it around himself.

He's taught this bastardized version of her legacy to generations of soldiers. To all of Foxhound's recruits.

You're a weapon now.

All you can do is fight.

They found out that supernatural people are way more common than they expected. Hala introduced them to the merfolk group living in the Alolan waters when he became a Kahuna.

Of course they knew about psychics and that kinda thing, but receiving the blessing, and then finding out that there's so many others out there? Yeah that turned his world upside down for a while. He thinks it's awesome, though!
