The daughter of Apostle born during the Dark Ages, Dianthe initially grew up knowing the common struggles of the Dark Ages to a lesser degree once her father became a Warlord and the protector of their village/town. As if a gift of spring itself, she was a bright spot in the people's lives, but none more so than her father as she was a bright, cheerful girl with a gentle heart and a caring soul. She grew up with a love of flowers and making things with her hands, specifically via sewing and weaving, but she also loved bright things (such as a pearl comb her father gifted her when she turned 15).
Centuries passed, and in her hands where she lay buried in the old, and now mostly abandoned town that her father guarded, Dianthe was awoken by a Ghost, her pearl comb in hand and an eternal flower crown on her head. Technically a Warlock, she is by all definitions a baby New Light as is just beginning to learn how to use her Light and control it. She still has her personality from before she died, but she tends to have mood swings more often now, especially as her Ghost (who is also new to life essentially) was not able to fully lock away her memories, and so she has very blurry flashes of her past life which usually end in her sulking away somewhere quiet in the Tower to cry. She was found shortly after her revival by a patrolling fireteam and was brought back to the Tower where, upon realizing she was a New Light, Zavala decided to give her a room in the Tower so that they could try and figure out what the right path was in terms of her training (none of the current Vanguard leaders wanting to put her through the more brutal routes, such as Crucible), and whether or not they should try to find out if she had any family who would take her in and away from the dangers of the field.
