u know replaying the fe if/fates game after so many years gives me so many new thoughts for example:

marrying any of the hoshidan royals in birthright just sounds...sad. imagine that kamui chose hoshido because she firmly believes that the hoshidan royals are her blood siblings. they spent time for such a short while and no matter how naive and sweet kamui is, i doubt her choice of choosing hoshido was because she genuinely sees them as her siblings at first

she chose them out of obligation. subconsciously.

theyre her blood siblings right? theyre blood related. yes she grew up with the nohrian royals but the fact that theyre not related at all to her just leaves a girl wanting. and them Bam! you meet a bunch of strangers who claim to hv the same blood flowing in your veins. of course she would be excited.

so she chose hoshido because these are her blood siblings. theyre related. marx and camilla and leon and elise love her like their own but its not the same as having blood siblings in your life, right? itll be different and worth it in the end, right?

enter the ryouma/takumis S support

ryouma knows theyre not related. takumi has to learn the hard way after despising himself thinking he has fallen for his blood sister. but after telling the truth to kamui, its nice to see a happy ending that kamui feels the same way to them

but what if the game got deeper into writing hell

how would kamui feel that these hoshidan royals are just like the nohrian royals? that theyre not related by blood at all? tht they hv different mothers AND fathers? that sumeragi was never her father? that she never found out her actual father?

the reason she chose hoshido was because out of obligation. she didnt realize that until it was too late.

she loves the hoshidan royals now. she sees them as her blood siblings. but the thing is: they arent. shes just as adopted as she was back in nohr. these hoshido royals love her for her eventho they knew they arent related.

but kamui chose them out of obligation. she loves the nohrian siblings just as much but she chose the hoshidan royals out of obligation and thinking their relationship was different and deeper.

it isnt

theyre just the same. they all share the same bond like she had back in nohr

there wasnt any difference

and now kamui was back to where she starts. back to when everyone was a stranger. back to when she was reminded she never had anyone who share the same blood and flesh as hers. back to when shes alone in a family who share the same common trait.

marx, camilla, leon, and elise love her for her. ryouma, hinoka, takumi, and sakura love her for her.

but she fucked up. she lost the first family whom she remembered as people who genuinely love and accept her. who made her FEEL like actual family

i know ill never write this properly but i want to give yall a general idea of shinonomes life in my Failed Revelation AU

after ryouma and camillas marriage, they live a happy but challenging life. hoshidans were very hesitant in accepting camilla as their new queen. but despite the trials n tribulations and with camillas patience and love, shes a beloved queen

the two had shinonome. but of course, they didnt stop there

shinonome actually had siblings after him. 4 in fact.

camilla wanted a big family and of course ryouma is willing to give anything for his queen (+ after reading their japanese S support it like the sweetest cutest thing i know camilla craves a family) so to hv so many siblings, thts shinonomes life

its filled with laughter and livelihood, shinonome was always the best big brother who protects his siblings

until anankos' powers finally caught up to them

news of kamui n takumis deaths in valla shook everyone. camilla was in distraught and ryouma was utterly heartbroken. hoshido and nohr were losing their strengths as unspeakable evil made its way to the surface

it possessed one of shinonomes siblings. the second sibling.

shinonome was 13 at tht time and his sister was 12. the kingdom was in quiet chaos and he couldnt find his siblings. suddenly, he heard his sisters scream and rushed to one of their bedrooms

he slid the door open

there. lying on a bloodied floor were two mangled corpses of his younger siblings: both 10 n 9 respectively

his 12 year old sister held the decapitated head of their 9 year old sister

the eldest sister was long gone. staring emptily while eyes clouded in deep, dark purple and dark mist enveloped her

her soul was long gone

shinonome had no choice

he had no choice but to kill his possessed sister

he remembered slicing her with his katana. he remembered taking a life that was no longer there. shinonome lost his mind and he was forever traumatized to hold a katana (hence being a lance user)

his parents found out

camillas mental wellbeing was getting more and more disoriented. ryouma was beyond devastated. their big family was being squashed down. one by one.

shinonome had to live with the guilt. ryouma was too busy defending a falling hoshido to comfort his son. camilla was getting more broken to even soothe her heart, let alone her now only child

its his fault.

he had no choice, he once said to himself. but its his fault for not protecting his siblings, he kept reminding himself.

and when his parents perished, shinonome had to live with the ghosts of his siblings. he suffered and despaired over not being able to be the big brother his siblings needed. it almost broke him just how it had broken his mother

time passed n with the other future childrens help, shinonome made a new vow: to protect his cousins. to protect the past versions of his parents. to protect the new future.

after all, its the least he could do after killing his own siblings

reading the japanese and english takukamu S supports im just getting really emotional over the japanese version

when i reread the official english version, i realize they kinda water down how takumi really felt. that explains why i got REALLY emotional reading the japanese version. some of the changes were:

english: there is something else I wanted to talk about… japanese: will you listen to my request?

while this doesnt seem much, the eng version makes takumi sound calmer while jpn version makes him sound nervous. it was a bit odd when takumi says request but then

english: So…does this change anything? About your feelings toward us, I mean. japanese: Hey. Earlier... you said you would listen to my request. So, will you... forgive me for this?

apparently after confessing his feelings n telling the truth, jpn takumi clearly felt disgusted and horrified that he has romantic feelings for someone he was supposed to call sister. eng takumi once again makes him feel calmer and chill as if he had enough time to think and ponder--almost as if the big truth wasnt all that much--while jpn takumi is implied to have rued and suffered through his feelings, fearing that kamui will hate or be disgusted with him. after alls said and done, all takumi ever wanted was for kamui to accept him even if she doesnt love him

english: Avatar: When you said that you liked me, my heart started racing. But I didn't want it to show because I didn't know about Father. Everything is so confusing. Takumi: That's right. But in a confusing world, we must cling to the few fragments of truth we share. And the truth is that I love you, Avatar, and you love me. Let's build a future on that. Avatar: Y-yes. once again this ending!!!! while i do like the eng version the fact that it feels......less emotional than the japanese one. yes takumi is more assured of his feelings now that its reciprocated. i hate that the english version doesnt wanna highlight the 'i cant romantically love you coz i thought we were siblings' like cowards. apply the brocon/siscon themes in this game as its supposed to be. but yeah i still do appreciate takumi being more confident and kamui still being hesitant but they both embraced their feelings nicely

but the japanese one

oooohhh OOOHHH kamui straight up saying she loves takumi too but didnt act out coz she thought they were related. takumi preparing A RING eventho he was 70% sure she wont love him the same way. takumi saying he will protect her with his own life which brings the whole conquest story 10x more painful.

english: If you were aiming for my heart, you've struck true. This was meant to be…

cheesy cute S support dialogue. 10/10. adorable. the last sentence is my otp tag for them after all

japanese: Thank you, sister. I'm so very happy. No matter what people think...these feelings won't change. I love you.

HEARTBREAKING HONEST S SUPPORT. 12/10 MAKING ME CRY. LOVE THAT HE PROMISES NO MATTER WHAT HE WILL ALWAYS LOVE HER. GOOD GOD

again takumi is being calm and somewhat professional. he knows its weird and tbfh i hate that the localization want to highlight how weird it is. we get it i know. but they make takumi level-headed which when i think back is kind of off for him but i appreciate the maturity of his behaviour here

japanese: I'm sorry... Nee-san. I was really at a loss as to whether I should tell you this or not. Now that I have, we can't go back to being siblings. But I... couldn't have beared living my whole life acting as your brother. I would have rather died...

listen english localization is a coward for not bringing the fates dlcs in the english version. yall are cowards and cant handle the pressure of leos cheeky teasing comment of 'whats the matter? i thought you wanted to be closer to your little brother :3c?' after having a full makeout session with his wife kamui. that scene lives in my head rent free with mamosans voice playing on loop
