Rak’yih

Legend says that the Rak’yih are the offspring of a powerful love between a dragon and a human.  They swore to be together despite time, differences, and the disapproval of their peers. 

The Rak’yih are a race of tribal humanoid dragons; they basically embody the abilities of a dragon but powers and types vary from Rak’yih to Rak’yih.  They are very spiritual and hold nature close to their souls.  They are also a very seclusive race, living in the mountains with a magical barrier to cause hikers to turn around, seemingly lost and unable to find the village of dragon people.  Outsiders are never allowed in their village and they are seldom allowed to venture out.

Rak’yih are romantics; they love music, dancing and story-telling.  They also love to hold festivals often, their festivals being full of delicious food, drinks, fun games, and lively music.

No one is sure how many of them exist but they are assured to not be endangered.

Rak’yih elders believe they are a superior race in comparison to others, their pride being the main reason they do not allow outsiders in or for their kin to leave.  They believe that they are too good for the outside world and that their blessings received from their mother goddess make them “too bright to be gazed upon.”  This is not a common belief among Rak’yih, particularly younger ones.  They grew up with different ideas and a curiosity for the outside world.

Religion

Their beliefs almost mimic Pagan and Wiccan beliefs in which there are gods and goddesses and their religion is based around the Earth and nature.

Tend to live for hundreds of years, the oldest Rak’yih being around 800 years old

For every 40 years, Rak’yih appear 10-years old

So a Rak’yih around 80 years old will appear to be in their 20’s

This is only an estimation of their aging process

The Scorched War

Before Isonia came to be the peaceful realm it is today, there was much turmoil among men, creatures, and dragons.

As Remias ruled over Isonia for centuries, he allowed his hunger and his greed to take over. He amassed a great hoard of treasure; gold, jewels, paintings, even men. His wealth was unmatched but as was his loneliness.

Longing for company, Remias stole an egg and from it was born his new sister, Inel. Being the first dragon to be born with scales made of gold, Remias saw this as a sign of prosperity for years to come.

He raised and taught her everything he knew in hopes that she would rule beside him and strike fear into the hearts and souls of all creatures before them. For years he showed her the ways in which he controlled the realm and it was through these teachings that Inel knew then how to overthrow him.

Inel saw how Remias ruled with fear and the suffering caused by it. With sympathy and compassion, Inel began plotting against Remias and recruited anyone and everyone who felt for their cause. At first, no one stepped forward for fear of betrayal, repercussions, and death for rebelling. Then, one brave person stood before Inel to offer their support.

Ming Feng.

It was Ming that first stepped up to assist Inel in her cause to rise up against Remias and end his reign. She was brave enough to help gather any kind of help to bring down the Obsidian dragon and it was Ming and her lineage that Inel swore eternal allegiance to from then on.

The war was long and losses were great on both sides.

While Inel had many men and creatures on her side, there were also many who had pledged allegiance to Remias. Some stood by him out of loyalty while most did out of fear. In the end, Remias was betrayed by the men he thought were loyal, for these men were the ones who longed the most for freedom.

The Obisidian dragon fell and was forced to retreat from the land that is now known as the country and kingdom of Shian. Now, Remias is in a deep slumber and has been for generations, allowing the realm to start anew.

Isonia

Otherwise known as the Golden Realm, Isonia is a relatively kind world that was named as such for its most famous inhabitant, The Gold Dragon.

There are many kingdoms, countries, city-states, and more in Isonia but there stand only six powerful kingdoms which rule under the guidance of five powerful elder dragons.

The Gold Dragon, Inel She is kind, fair, and the second eldest of the dragons. Inel is the dragon of justice and oversees the kingdom of Shian. Having done so for generations, Inel has educated and ensured the long reign of the Shian Kingdom’s royal family. Inel’s favored treasures are produced by men; paintings, scriptures, porcelain, and various magical trinkets.

The Obsidian Dragon, Remias He is bloodthirsty, cruel, and longs for the power Inel wields. The eldest of the dragons, Remias is Inel’s brother and once held the most power over the realm. He stood above the rest of the dragons and ruled over men and creatures with a clenched claw. No longer in power, Remias resides in the cold and harsh land of Hyozan, resting after the end of the Scorched War.

The Silver Dragon, Caythin He is haughty and self-righteous. One of the older dragons, Caythin is the one that resides in Avoine and oversees their nation and kingdom. He’s a dragon that enjoys a more lavish lifestyle and promotes enriching oneself with material riches and knowledge. While grand in his dragon form, he often prefers taking the form of elves and humans in order to enjoy his day to day leisures.

The Bronze Dragon, Rozzig He is territorial and protective. Also one of the older dragons, Rozzig is the most temperamental and upholds an ideal of honor and chivalry. Residing in and helping guide Ibeveth, he guides its inhabitants and the royalty of the nation. It is because of him that the nation has temple knights and a holy order. Much like his brother, Caythin, he enjoys taking on a human form for day to day activities and mingling among the humans he helps rule over.

The Ruby Dragon, Jomrer She is a trickster, playful, and prefers the company of creatures over men. Jomrer is practiced in magic and is the only dragon that blesses others with her power. Despite this, she very much dislikes humans and most humanoid races (elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc.) and it is very unlikely that she bestows any type of power to anyone other than creatures and monsters. Due to her favor of creatures and tricks, she resides in Kymatis, doing less guiding and more causing of turmoil and strife within the country for her own amusement.

The Jade Dragon, Avnan She is kind, naive, and the youngest of the elder dragons. Living in Kawa, she oversees the farming nation under the guidance of Inel. This is because she has never saw over any nation or group of people before and Inel took it upon herself to raise and guide Avnan.
