the easy answer is that if allen’s gangmate hadn’t stolen his mammet before he moved to ul’dah, he wouldn’t have had to slum it as intimately with ul’dah’s refugee crowd and would have focused more on empowering and bettering himself instead of this community he just met. it’s a very slippery slope to become a mob boss 😔

the hard answer is that if al didn’t jump off the dresser and land in l’selle’s sink, splashing soap in l’selle’s eye, l’selle wouldnt have run into the table and knocked the teacup to the floor. and if the teacup hadn’t shattered, he wouldn’t have been wearing his shoes in the house, which made him want to go outside because why else would he waste time with shoes. and if he didn’t go outside he wouldn’t have seen that one deer that reminded him of arismont that reminded him of limsa that reminded him of his mom’s fish dip, and he certainly wouldn’t have started walking towards highbridge to see what goods their air ferries brought in. and THEN he wouldn’t have seen rothe visiting alrek. which means he wouldn’t have learned that ala mhigans were into chakra rocks and rothe would have never gotten such a beloved gift from his best friend in the whole word 😔😔😔

HOPE IT’S NOT AT HIM

the best nol will probably do is make eye contact, maybe nod, and maybe approach. most people who need him would just call out his name or title--one reason for that is bc its a standard, but the other is that they learned better.

nol is usually p self-concerned when he’s in public, and he notices other people and what’s going on a lot less when he feels he’s safe, like in the city or at a base. it’s not uncommon for him to just not notice period.

and elliot will usually bow his head in return or give a little wave--or a full wave depending on where he is and what social role he’s filling. he pays a lot more attention to what other people are doing, and he also generally knows if the wave is for him based on his knowledge of the ppl around him.

l’selle will absolutely wave back. especially if he knows its not for him.

2: elliot loves tea, swears by it, will make u drink some w him at some point, and also cant stand bitter things. if he doesnt brew it in milk, he dumps milk in and adds lotsa creamer. he prefers flowery teas for their aroma and concept, but he likes fruit taste more, so he usually ends up putting flowers in the fruit tea as an extra bonus. cookies crumble n get on his clothes too easily so he usually stays away from tea snacks despite my need to make a wilde joke

3: nol doesn’t care what elliot says. tea is gross. he drinks it as little as alcohol and usually for the same reason: everyone else is drinking and wants him to join them. he heaps cinnamon and sugar into his tea if he can, but his favorite thing to do is just pretend he’s drinking tea when actually he just snuck hot chocolate in from the kitchen
