MiA Laurence headcanon:
He often goes fishing in his free time. Orth is an island and a lot of their food is fish, so why not get some to bring back to the orphanage/the hunter’s workshop? He has his own fishing rod and makes his own bait. He’s a pretty good fisherman too. He also takes his fishing rod into the Abyss to fish up some abyss fish from the underground river.

This night I had a dream. It was about the Byrgenwerth kids wanting to go play in the snow because it had snowed beautifully. And then they all had to spend several minutes waiting for Laurence who bundled himself up in warm clothes before daring to go outside. I... I totally make this a headcanon now.

I saw some Insight headcanons on my dash and want to use this opportunity to talk about the time Laurence got himself a Frenzy. With the way Laurence used the old blood of course his insight got insanely high. He often started to saw things but because of his poor sleep schedule brushed it off as hallucinations. It was one day when he went to Odeon Chapel and saw the Amydgala. No way that is a hallucination. There is a Great One just chilling on Oden Chapel and he doesn’t have any control over it. Of course Laurence does the most stupid thing ever and goes to directly confront it. Amydgala does what it does best, grab him and shows him the nightmare (he doesn’t get transported there because he doesn’t possess any of the items needed for it). Laurence gets a full frenzy and just completely... locks down. He is in a catatonic state for several weeks. When he got out of it later, he claims that he doesn’t remember a lot of it, only some parts Ludwig had done for him (who very badly tried to get a response out of him). He felt like he was locked into his own fear. He has to take sedatives or the paralyzing anxiety comes back, especially when he sees the Amydgala. Needless to say, he is deeply afraid of them since the incident and loathes having to go to Odeon Chapel.
How did Laurence handle knowing the scourge has essentially overtaken the city? What would he have done differently had he if known what the blood would do before hand?
At the end of his life, Laurence was pretty much screwed. He really didn’t knew what to do anymore which led to a lot of bad decisions, mainly that he ordered the executioners to take care of the vilebloods because the town couldn’t handle attacks from beasts and vampires. He tried until his very last moments to find a cure for the scourge, especially when he noticed that he was infected himself. Sadly he was ignorant about the signs. He had been so sure the old blood was safe that he never considered it to the the cause and though when he found out, he was already turning and his hastily written note “Fear the old blood” was ignored by the Healing Church. If Laurence would have known what the old blood did, he never had left Byrgenwerth and would have eventually replaced Willem as the headmaster.
