What would you say to a student who had an issue with alcohol? Like, they are an alcoholic and you caught them drinking vodka out of a water bottle but they denied it? Would you report them or try to help them personally?
I think I would try to let it rest at first, but keep tabs on them. People who are alcoholic won’t admit the fact that they have a problem easily, and it’s not good to push it. Just keep a close eye on them, is the best thing. Try to coax it out of them is a better approach.
But I personally would not try to help them personally - it wouldn’t help at all. Reporting could work, but not always.
I think that my first approach would be informing the parents and principal both, and tell the student that it would behaviour that one would not approve of, and make them see that, in the end, people would always notice it would be alcohol in that bottle, and not water. You’ll smell it eventually.
