Avery Terra is far from the nicest girl on the sixth floor. That award probably belongs to Clarke, or Eloise. To some it may seem that Avery is entirely too mean for her own good, but no one quite understands why. And if you were to ask her? Well, I wouldn't recommend that.
You see, a couple years ago Avery Terra was a completely different person. She was happy, always smiling, and above all else she was madly in love.
His name? Collin. And the two really were inseparable So now you're probably wondering what became of Collin? If they were so happy, what happened? Well, against Avery's wishes, I'm going to tell you.
Collin and Avery were high school sweethearts, they met their freshman year on the first day of Biology when their teacher assigned them to be lab partners. They were everyone's favorite couple, voted Prom King & Queen their senior year to boot. When Avery turned twenty they got engaged. Both of their families were thrilled! It was about damn time! But their wedded bliss was bittersweet.
Within a few weeks of their arriving home from their honeymoon Collin started slowing down. The easiest of tasks becoming more and more difficult as time progressed on. After visiting a few doctors and specialists, Collin was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was given eight months to live.
Suddenly Avery's picture perfect world came crashing down around her. Eight months went by and Collin was weaker than Avery had ever imagined him to be. She spent every waking moment with him. Two months later Collin passed. Leaving Avery a widow at the age of twenty-two.
She couldn't stand living in the town where she and Collin grew up together. Everything was him. The house was him, the diner was him, the street was him, the park bench was him, and it wasn't that she wanted to forget him, but staying there made it difficult to do anything.
So Avery packed up what was left of her life and moved into an apartment in the city. It was a big change at first, but it was what she needed to move along with her life. Though having not spent a day without her Collin for almost 7 years, she still finds it difficult at times. Without Collin she's convinced she'll never really be happy.
So naturally her inner evil queen personality comes out. Rather than throwing herself daily pity parties, (though one occurs every once in awhile) if Avery can't be happy, no one can.
