Quarantine, day four:

The coals of madness begin to burn as Frozen two blares from the television yet again. Yesterday’s perilous journey to the apocalyptic wasteland formerly known as the grocery store has rendered the pantry stocked full of snacks I have never before desired, and still, I feast on them in hopes they will sate the boredom that seems to sit inside my chest like a ravenous void. But I do not hunger for pretzels or popcorn or pastries. It is freedom I crave. I yearn for the company of strangers, for the 6am alarm that meant a day packed with adulting and errands and entertainment.

As I sweep the floor for the seventh time today, I turn my eyes toward the garden. Temptation strikes as the wind dances across blades of grass. It takes all my willpower to spare the lawn until tomorrow. I mustn’t be hasty with my chores. To fill this day completely would only borrow occupation from tomorrow.

And so I sweep. I sweep and I sing along with Elsa, dreaming of the day I, too, will once again journey out of my home and into the unknown.

She looks at me, her eyes equal parts longing and grief. It’s as if I am gone though I am right in front of her, just a ghost, an intangible thing she wants but cannot have. I ache to touch her, to close the valley between us, to scatter her doubts to the dust. But circumstance commands I be still, my tongue tied, imprisoned by boundaries I cannot cross.

“I should go,” she whispers, and yet she does not move. We stand like statues until the silence chokes us, the empty air full of almosts, questions lodged inside our throats. That’s when I realize it was always going to end this way, with half our hearts dangling on a string, one foot in while reality demands we take two steps back.

“That’s probably for the best,” I answer, but the words crack around sentiment that begs her to stay. She nods because she knows, and I feel my chest constrict like a noose has stolen the very air from my lungs. I’d be a liar to say it doesn’t hurt, the sides of her I’ll never see, the stories I’ll never hear, the secrets we’ll never share. Between us are inches that may as well be miles, no more or less out of reach than she’s always been. And yet, I am left wondering: if I haven’t lost anything, then why do I feel so empty inside?

Okay, so, story time. Not only did John Barrowman say we had a “lesbian Wonder Woman thing going on”, but when I went to walk away after the photo op, he stopped me, turned me back around so he could give me a once over, smirked and said, “I never knew I had it in me.”

At which point he put both hands up for a high five, we locked fingers, and he pulled me in closer. So naturally, I ran my hands over his chest and told him I was “honored to be his first lesbian experience.” Winked and then walked away.

And the next day when we qued up to get the photo signed, he greeted me with a beaming smile and, “My lesbian lover! I was hoping I’d see you again.”

I can die happy now.

Oh! And I also asked him if we’d ever get an audio series with River and Jack and he gave me a very suggestive “possibly”. So fingers crossed, kids.

So I’m getting my thirteenth Doctor cosplay ready for the weekend; and, honestly, Jodi how are you pulling this off cuz these pants make me look like a soccer mom.

A - Age: 26 (27 next month. dear god why)

B - Birthplace: I actually despise this question because of stupid military brat ™ reasons, I have different answers on different important documents and it. makes. no. sense. Filling out visas and gov paperwork is always stressful because I’m like, where am I from? Am I a criminal? I just don’t know. And to add insult to injury, instead of a town like a normal person, my birth certificate says Precinct 4 like some kind of post apocalyptic nightmare. 

C - Current time: 8:30am ish

D - Drink you last had: Coffee.

E - Easiest person to talk to: That boy-thing I had imported, for sure. 

F - Favorite song: I’m always in the mood to listen to Hallelujah. 

G - Grossest memory: One time I took a bite out of some suspiciously crunchy shrimp lo mein only to discover that the shrimp weren’t headless. I now have trust issues. 

H - Horror yes or horror no: Absolutely not. I watched too many scary movies as a child and now I’m living with the consequences. 

I - In love?: As Hozier said, I fall in love just a little ol’ little bit every day with someone new.  

J - Jealous of people?: Nah, if you like what someone else is, has, or does, don’t get jealous. Get inspired. 

L - Love at first sight or should i walk by again?: I’m not really sure what this is asking? Is tumblr hitting on me? I’ve never dated a blue hell site before, but I’ll try anything once. 

M - Middle name: Renee. Fun fact, I didn’t even know I had a middle name till i was like 11. lol 

N - Number of siblings: Two, but they’re both way older so I got all the benefits or being an only child AND being tortured by siblings.

O - One wish: Has wishing for something ever actually done anyone any good? There’s always a catch but whatever. I’d wish that this country finally got it’s shit together and did something about gun control because my daughter starts school soon and I am terrified. 

P - Person you called last: My insurance company. Isn’t adulting fun?

Q - Question you are always asked: “How tall are you?” I feel like I get asked this every day of my life. I’m going to start wearing a sign. 

R - Reason to smile: Fandom friends. :)

S - Song you sang last: That Exs and Ohs song has been in my head for days. send help. 

T - Time you woke up: 7 am. everyday. because of my spawn. 

U - Underwear colour: They’re actually Star Wars underwear cuz I’m cool.

V - Vacation destination: Next one is Portugal with two of my best girls for some photographyyyy.

W - Worst habit: I bite my nails when I write. I hate it. People can always tell when I’ve been procrastinating cuz my nails will be painted and long and when I’m writing they’re chipped and horrible. 

X - X-rays: Probably? This question is dull so I’m going to talk about Xena Warrior Princess instead. I love her. While all the other seven year olds were watching Saturday morning cartoons, I was watching this. Which probably explains a lot about me tbh.

So I occasionally do this thing where I’ll write late at night and have no memory of it when I wake up in the morning. Well, last night I did exactly that, and lemme just tell ya, I woke up to the crackiest, most ridiculous nonsense I have ever seen in my wips folder.
