Else Alfelt (Sept. 16, 1910 - 1974) was an important Danish artist, associated with the CoBrA group from the 1940s onward. Her highly structured abstract art is very characteristic, and many works can be viewed in the dedicated Carl-Henning Pedersen og Else Alfelts Museum in Herning, Denmark...

The middle of the week is the best time for abstract formalism. It's also the best time for cake, but that's sort of secondary. As the week builds its momentum and you're pining for Friday, Wednesday really is the best point for escaping into something non-human, maybe even transcendental. Cody Berringer's art fits that to a T.

A recent graduate of Ringling College's BFA program, Berringer has made art that covers both architectural installation pieces and traditional painted work. It's all infused with the kind of Platonic undecidability toward which postmodern formalism leans, positioning the viewer in the vulnerable, hypnotic place of evocative-but-unintelligible. With Cody's prolific posting and ever-evolving thematic patterns, it's a wonderfully pure art in which to lose yourself.
