Judging from how Abyss has performed in a few fights, it seems like he can barely land a hit on his opponents — is his current reaction speed and prediction still a bit lacking? Or is he holding back because he's worried about hurting innocents?

He is holding back his power, he simply doesn't want people to know that he can actually do harms if he's not careful. He doesn't want people to be afraid of him by thinking he's a creature, not a monsterkind.

Even though he isn't really a monsterkind, but something different.

How Abysstale Sans, Alphys and Mtt reacted to Deltarune chapter 5.

Abyss!Alphys: * after seeing the dark work, the Japanese theme and Flowery *... I'm in heaven. * she is the most happy person in the world.*

Abyss!sans: Japanese cuisine!

Abyss!Mtt: * When he sees mad Mew Mew, he doesn't seem happy to see her. *... Great… Maddy's here… and she still has anger issues ...

Abyss!sans: It's not the same Mew Mew from our world!

Abyss!Mtt: My point still stand. I told her she has to undergo anger management therapy. I'm still angry with her for trashing your new office on the surface.

Abyss!Alphys: W-well she didn't destroying completely.

Abyss!Mtt: Rebuilding your office cost me $10,000. I warned her once again that if she destroys it, she will have to pay for the damages, and it will be much more than $10,000. And she has remained calm ever since.

Abyss!Mtt:... But I still miss her. After all, she's still my cousin.

Note: Abyss!MewMew in Abysstale universe still existed.

Hey hey hey~ I'm writing a new wiki for Abysstale, so I've been going through your posts over and over (well, my English is pretty bad, so I'm writing it in my own language first, and it might take a year or two? Hope you don't mind). I saw that you reblogged this post about Undertale multiverse classification, so I wanted to ask — in the multiverse that Abysstale is part of, is it classified the same way?

That was a long time ago, but that was only Lion's own interpretation of the multiverse.

does abyss like making new friends ?

It depends. For him, friendship is built naturally over time, with patience and trust, without being forced or asked for it.

Because of Abyss's trust issues from his past. He won't trust people so easily. Just because he's nice to everyone doesn't mean he trusts them.

I noticed that Nightmare wants something specific from Abyss (he probably wants him to join his group) and from the way you avoid writing it in how Abyss meet killer, it makes me feel like it foreshadowing something. Would this be related to something that will happen in a future chapter? Like Nightmare coming back into the story and such.

The reason Nightmare wants Abyss to join him is that he simply wants to use Abyss's Cell power to sow chaos, destruction and gain more negative emotion.

But because of Abyss's stubbornness, it becomes difficult to persuade him.

And you're right. It is a foreshadowing of what will happen in the future.

One clue: Abyss did not end up joining Nightmare.
