On her break at the bakery Elli decided to check her phone for messages. She instantly regretted that decision. There were numerous texts from unknown numbers. A great deal of them either asking for kisses or emoji’s involving kissing. She didn’t think people actually texted random people’s numbers in the paper. Or rather, she had hoped. But as she stared down at the small device she realized just how wrong she’d been.

Her cheeks began to rise with heat and she knew she was red as a tomato. Oh goodness, how would she face her customers after this? But the customers were outside while the text stared her in the face.

How would someone even respond to that? She imagined a more confident person responding with a kissy face right back at them. After considering doing just that she couldn’t bring herself to do it. There were too many possibilities of it going wrong. What if they continued sending texts like that? She shook her head of such thoughts. It just wasn’t her.

[ To ??? ] I’m guessing you read the gossip? 😳

[ To ??? ] I don’t really give out kisses 😖

After another moment she sent one more message and could only hope this didn’t have bad repercussions.

{HPAU} I Scream You Scream We all Scream for Mandrakes || Kasey & Elli

It was late in the afternoon when Elli arrived at the herbology greenhouse. Professor Sprout, aptly named, had assigned Elli to this week’s garden work along with one of the fifth year Gryffindors. Usually it was just watering and spreading specific fertilizers on certain plants, but the professor had something more planned for them that day.

Some of the mandrakes needed to be re-potted. Usually this would be a class for one of the younger students to partake in under the professor’s watch. Which was still the case. They’d potted the very mandrakes she was about to re-pot now. The only difference was they were babies back then and now they were getting closer to their maturity it was time to put them in pots with room for two.

On the surface it seemed like a simple task. That and their screams were more powerful now. Of course, Professor Sprout wouldn’t leave their poor ears victim to their cries and supplied ear plugs.

Elli waited for the Gryffindor to arrive by setting out the new pot onto their work table. Even though Elli had done this task multiple times before she didn’t want to start without her partner. For one he could walk in right in the middle of a mandrake scream.
