ChatGPT for Academia: Anatomy of Advanced ChatGPT Prompt
Not trying to simp but tbh you are quite sharp and also you have a very natural flair for writing . Young people do sometimes sell themselves short and in your case it's mostly indifference rather than low confidence in your abilities . As time progresses , you will only get better and better and also more assured in your writing abilities . The land is already fertile in your case , it only needs perseverance to plough and work upon it in order to bear fruits . Now obviously I have no idea about anything that is related to your academic work but as far as writing goes , judging from your fics and metas and the way you harness the prose in order to build such vivid and evocative imagery is a talent on itself . Academia can be tough and obviously you have a long way to go but as far as being a writer is concerned, you have the makings for it . I hope this helps you in any small way to enthuse within you to go and grab and work towards what you have always wanted . We are never going to meet irl but I pray that you excel in your endeavours and even if there are hiccups in midst of the journey , I am sure you will bounce back . Don't let yourself down baby sis 😂 .
Oh my goodness, you are so sweet. Thank you so much for those kind words of encouragement. I really appreciate each and every one of my mutuals and well-wishing anons, truly. The good vibes you guys send and share with me mean so much <3
Sometimes I'm just so... not doubtful, but I guess indifferent about my own abilities, specifically in this instance my writing, so it was really nice to have my supervisor earlier today tell me that she thought my writing style was really strong and elegant, especially for a first draft. I'm particularly chuffed by that because I did not think what I sent her was all that good, truth be told it was a bit rushed near the end, and so I was fully prepared to hear critiques on it. I didn't expect to hear the opposite. So, I don't know... I've just had a spring in my step ever since and it's a lovely feeling ☀️😇🌸🌞
Do you want to be a professor ?
At least in the UK, I think a professorship is a position you might get after years of academic contribution, and maybe you get nominated for it, or you have to apply? You don't just become one. To be honest, I don't know quite how it works, though my undergrad personal tutor was a professor, specialising in Victorian literature. After doing a PhD (if I do one... I mean, I probably will), I think I'd enjoy being a lecturer and seminar tutor, in addition to doing my own academic work, because I've always really enjoyed those aspects of study just as much as independent research.
Plus, I think I could be quite good at it... maybe. It's a different kind of communication skill though, being able to convey your ideas orally, and then being able to encourage and manage class discussions. I do have really fond memories of some of my favourite seminar tutors/lecturers, so maybe I'd be able to emulate them a bit.
New semester is starting here in ATL. High school students are back in full swing--tutoring is starting up again. First year graduate students are here and doing orientations and such. Trying to get back into planning and scheduling and stay on top of work (while also fixing big holes in my walls in my apartment...)
What are your goals for the new semester/school year?
