My derby teapot/ kettle tipper arrived!
Here is a speedy review in case anyone else has been looking at getting one.
It's so easy to use and it works really well. It would work well with a kettle as well, but I haven't tried this.
It takes the weight of the pot and only moves one way so I don't need to worry about hurting myself with hot water if my movement control goes up the spout (pun intended). The teapot is very well secured with the velcro and tips enough to fully empty the teapot which is nice.
I wouldn't want to use it on some of my worse days but on those days I'd have a carer with me all the times, and definitely wouldn't be drinking without help, let alone anything hot!
Like loads of disability stuff, it was silly expensive (more than £40 in total) and isn't the prettiest thing in the world. But it's allowed me to go back to drinking a whole pot of tea by myself while studying without interrupting my flow by asking for help, which is definitely helping me drink more.
I'm planning on decorating it when I get round to it (probably with tea-themed stickers!)
[ID: photo of a white teapot strapped into a derby teapot tipper. The tipper is a white plastic box that has supports for the spout of the teapot and has a Velcro strap that goes through the teapot handle holding it down. It has a longer base where a cup could be placed to pour into. There is a tag for a peppermint teabag hanging down the side of the pot /end ID]
[ID: the same teapot strapped to the same teapot tipper. The top of the box holding the teapot has tipped up on a hidden hinge and the teapot is in a pouring position. There is a mug with a straw in under the spout of the teapot. /end ID]
