@realdonaldtrump twists & misquotes another Founding Father of our country to support his own case against the free press. In fact, the quote by #ThomasJefferson, was written in a letter to John Norvell during a period when the press was 'accurately' reporting that he was having an affair with one of his slaves. It was later learned that 6 of his children were born to the salve woman he initially denied reports of an affair. The quote accurately said "The actual quote says: "It is a melancholy truth, that a suppression of the press could not more completely deprive the nation of it's benefits, than is done by it's abandoned prostitution to falsehood. Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle." #PresidentsDay #history #accuratefacts 🇺🇸
