Took longer than expected to make but here are the Valentines skins for the Circus Troupe!
Here are all the Uncommon Toon OC Cookies! And for lore (see below)...
Send in the circus! Cause they've got Halloween costumes!
Looey's costume is a Pierrot, a stock character of pantomime performances, which eventually molded into the "Sad Clown" character in contemporary culture.
Yatta's costume is candy corn! Mixed with some witch elements like the hat (which has holes for the horns/earns) and dress.
Blot's costume is themed after Goosebumps! Specifically, the green slime that is Monster Blood, and the suit of Slappy The Dummy (though with a more purple color). Blot Jr. also dresses up too! Considering the game's timeline, Goosebumps would've been created and rose in popularity at the same time the Dandy's World show was airing. So one 90's phenomenon meets another!
Ace's costume is that of a fortune teller, inspired by Cinnamon Cookie's "Fortuneteller Apprentice" costume. Here here's traded his usual playing cards for tarot cards, which would be shown in his ability.
(Heart Card gets switched out for a Looey "The Fool" Card, Diamond Card gets switched out for a Ace "The Magician" Card, Spade Card gets switched out for a Blot "The Emperor" card, and the Club Card gets switched out for a Yatta "The Hanged Man" card when playing as Ace with this costume).)
Showtime Ace!
(The hat is also part of the outfit btw, it's not just a prop)
[DW x MLB] Hocus Pocus (Akuma!Ace)
I have returned once again with more OC akumas for @starlightwoofwoof 's Miraculous Ladybug AU! In this podium we have Ace the Playing Card, or known here by his Akuma alias: Hocus Pocus!
So Aceâs whole conundrum is that heâs constantly worried about being exposed as a âfraudâ because his magic tricks are a well-kept secret, believing that having them âexposedâ would sour his reputation because people would no longer enjoy his acts.
So one day, someone (outside of the circus crew) finds out about how Ace does his famous âvanishing actâ and spreads the word about it. Knowing most of the Toons this was likely done innocently like âHey! This is how Ace does his magic tricks! Isnât that cool?â.
âŠBut Ace didnât see it that way. Next thing he knew, everyone knew his secrets! And Ace saw this as his career basically being ruined, now that the magic had been âspoiledâ.
In his state of panic he was approached by Allurieum. Who offered Ace the ability to put on a show, with REAL magic, a show no one had seen before! Oh and to also get revenge on the one who âexposedâ him, that too.
Ace, believing he had nothing else to lose, accepted. And thus, Hocus Pocus was bornâŠjust âHocusâ for short.
Hocus is essentially Mumbo from Teen Titans. A stage magician with real and dangerous magical powers. As well as a bit of Abracadaver from PPG.
Like with the other circus troupe akumas, Hocus's eyes are all swirly, but this time with diamonds for pupils.
Basically all the usual magic tricks youâd expect to see from a magician he usesâŠbut now twisted into dangerous attacks and traps to restrain, control, or harm those that try to stop âthe showâ.
Hocus has the ability to teleport in a cloud of magic smoke (basically a ârealâ version of his vanishing act), however he can only teleport at a short distance. He does this specifically by wrapping himself in his own cape, like Roguefort Cookie's "out of energy" animation.
Other âtricksâ he does include but are not limited to: Summoning wild and angry animals from his hat, summoning ropes of scarfs to tie people up, putting folks in boxes and actually sawing them in half (donât worry itâs painless, nonfatal, and cartoony, and can be reversed by putting the two box halves together, but still very inconvenient), etc.
He also uses cards as projectiles, it wouldnât be Ace without them. The cards he uses as weapons are the same as the ones the akuma possessed. Loose cards, or ones that get stuck in things will return to his hand at the snap of his fingers.
As per Akuma rules, all of Aceâs cards (his possessed item) must be destroyed in order to de-akumatize him. But his powers become weaker little by little with each card destroyed.
I like to think that Yatta, Looey, and Blot were the ones to help Shelly defeat Hocus. After all, prior to his "exposure", they were the only Toons that knew how his tricks worked (especially since Ace would often have the three as his assistants for the acts) so they'd come up with idea to use his own magic against him.
My idea for how they were able to restrain him (and thus, take his possessed object and destroy it) was by using a trick called "The Assistants Revenge". Strapping Shelly up in the device and tricking Hocus into switching places with her. Ace can't teleport if he can't use his cape, so they're pretty much golden once they finish the trick.
After coming to his senses, AceâŠwas still not feeling well (mentally mostly but also a bit in the physical sense). Contemplating just leaving Gardenville (Thatâs what I call where the non-holiday Toons live) and going to another town now that, as he believed, he was âruinedâ but also hurt so many people trying to âsalvage his reputationâ.
Ace also did a lore drop as he was recovering : The reason Ace acted so paranoid over his âexposureâ was becauseâŠit happened to him before. The previous circus troupe he was in wereâŠless than kind to him once his tricks were âexposedâ, essentially kicking him out since they felt he ruined their reputation. Leading Ace to move to Gardenville and join Looeyâs circus troupe.
Thankfully the rest of the circus troupe were able to convince him to stay. Coming to the conclusion that, while yes, the curtain had been opened on his magic tricks, people still love them, because Ace is doing them. No one can do them with the same amount of finesse, fun, and charm that he does, thatâs the ârealâ magic behind his act. And besides, they can always come up with some new tricks!
Boy I tell ya, if Ace wasnât thankful to have such great friends/troupe members by his side then, he certainly was now. :)
Hello! I just wanna say that I love your art. Itâs awesome! I love the DW content. But also, uh, the two us had a crazy coincidence when making ocs.
Iâm not joking either. We somehow both managed to make magician card ocs named Ace! I just wanted to share that, and this piece of art I made cause of it. I donât mean anything mean out of this, Iâm just surprised of the coincidence and wanted to share it with you.
Thank you, that means a lot to hear that! And don't worry, I ain't mad about that, great minds think alike after all! Plus it's WAY different from intentionally copying someone.
Regardless, I like this piece of art! Thank you for making it!
