Ace slid onto the empty barstool like he belonged there, no entourage, no eyes lingering too long, just the low hum of conversation and the clink of glass. It was rare, being this anonymous, and he let himself enjoy it for a second. He rested his forearms on the bar, drumming his fingers lightly as he glanced up at the bartender. “Hey,” he said easily, offering a small smile. “Can I get a whiskey sour? Light on the sweet. I’ve had enough of that for one day.” He watched the pour, then glanced back up, curiosity easy and unforced. “You been slammed all night, or am I your lucky break?”
