Sorry for the lack of poto art folks, interest has been waning a little recently and I haven’t really drawn anything new.

This doesn’t mean i’ll stop posting or anything, but I’m also taking time for myself and focusing on my own life - so my art may be less frequent. I haven’t completely lost interest in poto, either.. so if you’re here for that - which you probably are - I’ll still do art.

I’m mostly sure that this is a troll anon, but no, I can’t. It’s not up to other people to decide how and what I draw unless I explicitly ask for their advice or critique, which I haven’t been doing.

This is a pretty strange thing to say in the first place, considering that if you’ve checked my profile enough to send an ask you’d be familiar with the fact I only draw fanart for the book, and not the musical. I’ve mentioned this in previous posts and my about me.

For my own Erik design / my take on Erik, the half mask wouldn’t make sense for him to wear as the deformity I draw him with spans over his whole face rather than half, and he would look pretty silly with it honestly.

It isn’t your place to ask for me to change the designs I’m comfortable with, and that I consistently use, and I don’t think making my Erik take more like Merik would “suit his character more.”

I have explicitly stated that I am more interested in the horror side of POTO and my design reflects that. Whilst I don’t talk about my Erik characterisation, he draws from Leroux but I can say for sure that he’s a very flawed and intentionally very uncomfortable character to write which isn’t at all like the musical which romanticises Erik as a character — something I don’t focus on.

It isn’t your place to assume how and why I characterise Erik in the way I do without knowing more about him, so please learn some fandom decency next time!

TLDR ; I don’t base my Erik off the musical and I think it’s very very rude that you’re asking me to change the designs and characterisations I have made just because you want my Erik to fit your own vision whilst refusing to read into the content I make! :-)

Just wondering do you had any inspirations while creating your versions of poto characters or did they just spawned in your head?

It’s a bit of a mixed bag really.. 😅 I feel like there’s PROBABLY a lot more inspo for them but I can only think of a few things right now.. I’ll talk about Erik and Christine though.

For my Erik, Nivek Ogre (This guy!) is a big inspiration design wise;

I’m also inspired by Riff Raff in Rocky Horror, and Renfield from Dracula a bit! I don’t know.. there’s just something about edgy (or greasy looking.. (Sorry Nivek)) guys.. so my Erik is one of them.

My Erik also really sucks.. lol. But I’ll expand on him personality-wise another day, since I’m assuming this is about designs!

For Christine, she’s mostly based on Leroux’ description of her, and an amalgamation of random things in my brain. I also like to think she has porcelain doll vibes. She’s a bit away with the fairies, a bit vague.. if y’know what I mean. (I love her dearly though)

She also has the resilience (somehow) of those yappy little terrier type dogs who live for what feels like hundreds of years.

Personally I would love to go down a horror route with my poto stuff, and some things I make do.. so I should expand on that sometime. But my Poto stuff is mainly from looking at Leroux and just from my imagination!! I don’t really take inspo from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stuff if I’m completely honest.. Unless I can say I love the mirror bride.. 🫣🤫
