“Give a Dog a Groan” With complete chaos ruling the day and this shut in self-quarantine thing folks are muddling through and an ailing nation (literally and employment-wise), the idea of a stimulus package to help supplement American’s incomes has been floating around and of course served as a political tug-of-war. @berniesanders has been a leading voice asserting that $1000 check would be far too little and an unrealistic livable financial supplement. Even so the fact that Congress was able to agree to a 2 trillion stimulus package that’ll net every American adult $1200 is a shocker given he hesitancy of Republicans to part with any cash for social welfare causes. Still it feels a bit like a drop in the ocean of uncertainty that we find ourselves... 🦴 🦴 🦴 🦴 🦴 🦴 🦴 🦴 #nicnacpattywack #throwmeabone #collage #sickasadog #acrosstheaisle #ubi #digitalcollage #editorial #oped #weekinreview @chuckschumer @senatemajldr #understimulated #inthedoghouse #stayhome #quarantine #mycorona #woof #dogsofinstagram #editorialillustration #adineroillustration (at West Mount Airy, Philadelphia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-UvwVxpJdf/?igshid=14urytyv1v0cm
We may not agree on everything, but I was thrilled when my fellow competitor and friend, Gordon Howie, reached out to me to come on his TV show for a half-hour discussion on how we believe our government should work. That's what a Senate seat is all about: debate and discussion of the great issues facing our country. A candidate who is afraid to face a debate or public forum is a candidate who would be a failure in the #Senate. #sdsen #acrosstheaisle
Here for a night of ska, pizza, and beers. Friday! #AcrossTheAisle #TwoBoots #Pie #Gansett (at Two Boots)
Across the Aisle
I'm sick of people fighting "across the aisle". Everyone has their political views that align with the right or the left, and those who don't align with one of the bandwagons are seen as unpatriotic or are entirely ignored. Honestly, if people bring up anything about George W. Bush's presidency, good or bad, immediately someone will respond with a evil-natured vehemence claiming the opposite. They fling around statistics and slogans that claim their view, blindly assuming that these things are true. Does anyone even stop to study the statistics that they are throwing around with authority? A few. A very small few. And unfortunately for those of us who think rationally, a large group of people will say that they have when in reality they don't want to admit that they got snookered in by some biased statistics. I'm just going to throw it out there, here and now: THERE IS NO SUCH THING as unbiased statistics. If you were to go out and crunch the numbers yourself today, no matter what the actual data says, you will, through omission, emphasis, or other way of skewing results, shift the data to say what you want it to say. Also! Even if an entirely unbiased political, economic, sociological statistic was published, the world may never even hear it over the roar of the dumbasses trying to defend their president, their candidate, their party whether what they claim is true or not.
So I guess all I'm trying to say is please, for the love of God, STOP trying to discuss Obamacare, why G. W. Bush was the worst/best president ever, and whether Obama is destroying or rebuilding the U.S. Economy on my Facebook Feed using shitty logic, biased data, and an entire unwillingness to compromise or admit you're wrong. Seriously.
Oh and since we're on the topic, fuck Farmville.
