Our taxi picked us up at 7am so we were up at 5.45 to pack, have breakfast and get on the road (a lay in!!).
The journey to Jabalpur airport took just over 4 hours and was relatively smooth. We’ve been watching the Fall on Netflix so have made sure we have plenty of episodes downloaded for these long journeys - we can definitely recommend it, we’re on series 3 already and only started it recently.
The flight to Mumbai was delayed by about an hour (standard) and took 2 hours 15.
We hung about at Mumbai airport for a few hours before trying to find out way to the bus station, it was a tricky process. First of all when we went to get into the prepaid taxi we were told we were late, apparently you only get 15 mins to get it, no one had told us so we’d gone for some food before queuing to get in.
Secondly no one had a clue where we were going despite giving them the address that he travel agent had provided, we had a group of taxi drivers around us discussing, calling, shouting and working out where it was. Finally they agreed on something and we were off, turned out about 20 mins later that the driver had no idea where he was going and he had to keep stopping and asking people. He told us “no English” when we tried to show him directions. We eventually worked out where we needed to be and he reluctantly took us there, having paid 270rps initially he tried to charge us 250 more!!! He didn’t get it!
We plotted up in Surya restaurant with a couple of chai’s and played backgammon until it was time to catch the bus to Goa.
Obviously the bus was delayed but only by 40 minutes so we set sail for Goa at 9:30 calculating that arrival time would be between 8-9am.....
The bus was an a/c sleeper meaning we had a double bunk to share with plenty of room, a tv (that didn’t work) and blankets.
