This was an incredible day. I got to spend it with the amazing @joanne_linville. Beverly Joanne Linville and Irene Gilbert co-founded the @stellaadleracademy in Los Angeles in 1985. Often noted for her striking similarities and devotion to the legendary Adler, Joanne has defined her own style and methodolgy that uplifts the actor to bring out their humanity. She didn't have to destroy you to elevate you as an actor and as a human being. She said once in class, you want to be a great actor? Then be a great human being. The first part of her life was spent as the actor of stage, television, and film. The second part spent as a world class teacher and life transformer. Today was a day to celebrate this remarkable woman and the personal contributions and influence she has had on others. I studied with Joanne Linville in the mid 90's. Each semester we would focus on one playwright. Whitman, Pinter, Foote, O'Neil, Inge, & Shakespeare were required reading. We studied poetry. T. S. Eliot's "The Waste Land" is one of my all time favs. Just mention the word "April" and Im all in. Thank you Joanne. Your influence on me extends through me. I have passed on to the actor what was given to me. #TheWork travels. From one artist into another. And then into an audience that absorbs and responds with justified emotions.
