Them: romance
My arospec ass: no thanks
Them: romantic friendship
My arospec QPR-loving ass: hmm…interesting…keep talking, you’ve piqued my interest.
I feel like a bad queer person because
Homosexuality and homosexual were coined by one of the first medical people to advocate for gay rights in the West and I don’t think they should be considered dirty words any more than queer ought to be (though I recognize and respect that everyone has to right to use, and have others use, the vocabulary they choose to describe themselves)
I don’t feel like a “real” aromantic because I have had at least one crush and I desperately want to fall in love, despite the fact that I respect every other arospec person and identity as aromantic
It drives me up a wall not to absolutely know what my romantic orientation is and what word to use and I cannot make peace with that
I don’t like being arospec even though I don’t think there’s anything wrong with aromanticism or aromantic people of any part of the spectrum, and I’m afraid I never will
Lovelies, if you are able, then show your pride! You deserve to participate(if you choose to do so) just as much as any other LGBT+ orientation and identity! Let’s also show some pride and support for those of us who would like to participate, but are unable to do so for any reason, and let them know that they will not go unrecognized.
How people talk about love really fucks me up like
idk if it’s because of my mental fuckery but I literally cannot fathom putting someone in categories concerning love without it being deeply linked to your brain’s fuckery
Like, I loved my Favorite Person. They were my moon and stars and there was nothing more important than my FP. It wasn’t romantic love though
I’ve loved people romantically sure, but everything is on the same playing field unless someone is my FP, then that person is automatically placed above all my other relationships romantic, queerplatonic, or otherwise.
So when people talk about romantic relationships being “more than just friendship” it’s like?????? isn’t it something else entirely???
The whole devaluing of friendships or literally any relationship that isn’t “romantic” fucks me up so much like you can’t have two characters on screen without someone trying to force some unnecessary hetero romance down your throat that adds nothing and makes said romance the end goal and it’s just
