this is a flag me and a small group of friends have been using within our circle since around 2021. we had come to refer to as the "twilight flag" due to the colours reminding us of the sky during twilight.
i would now like to release this flag to the public after so many years as i think a lot of zoos out there would like the symbolism used in this flag, and its just pretty i think :)
the top blue stripe represents above-ground animals (sky), fantasy/ficto zoos and "cousin communities" (ie. teratophilia and humanophilia), and solidarity with non-zoos.
the center brown stripe represents ground animals, nonhuman/transspecies/alterhuman zoos, and value for consent and health.
the bottom purple/black stripe represents below-ground animals (underground, water), disabled zoos, zoos of colour, questioning zoos, trans and lgbtqia+ zoos, para history, and respect for the natural world.
originally, the flag did not have a purple tint; this was added in 2025 in honor of brave zoos who fight for the community as well as zoos who have lost their life, as i feel it is vital to not forget them.
while this flag is not aligned with any particular group (though we ask that all users of this flag have respect for fellow paras, zoo or not), we have some alternate flags including popular symbols:
in the last two flags, the symbol is an 8-pointed star created using two of the original 4-pointed stars. the symbolism behind this is rooted in how me and my friends did not feel represented by ZETA, which had a common flag using a 4-pointed star.
one of our main issues was how we felt excluded from the greater zoo community (we had noticed a lot of ZETA zoos excluded other paras as well as zoosadists), so we, jokingly, had added extra points in the star to represent inclusion of more communities.
this flag is not anti-ZETA, but it is also not inherently aligned with the movement.
