Would you enjoy working with an engaged and dedicated team of mentors and magic practitioners? Then you should consider becoming a mentor with Acturian Academy!

What is Acturian Academy?

Acturian Academy is an online witchcraft and magic academy dedicated to supplying free guidance and information on a wide variety of occult and magical topics. We are not affiliated with any religion or form of practice and accept students and mentors from all paths and belief systems. Our semesters last 10 weeks at a time and are hosted on Google Classroom. Our next semester will begin in early February. We have a community set up on Discord as well to allow students, staff, and faculty to engage with and learn from one another. 

Requirements for Mentors

Prospective Mentors should have two or more years experience in their field of study, be 16 years of age or older, and must undergo training and pass with an 80% or higher. Once a mentor has signed on with Acturian Academy, the contract being signed holds them to a standard of teaching which states that they must have a semester or more of their class ready before their class will be listed as available to take.

Why Choose Acturian Academy?

There have been attempts at academies like ours in the past which have failed due to poor planning, rude and inaccessible staff, and drama. Acturian Academy mentors and staff have been professionally trained in conflict-resolutions and crisis management training. (These certificates are on file with the academy, if you would like to see them please message Ambrose Ophelia (@nyx-witch on Tumblr)). Mentors must also have a semester's worth of their classes finished and scheduled before they are added to our list of classes. (All mentors currently listed have syllabi available for their classes, which will be provided on the first day of classes. If you would like to see one prior to class start, please message the same mentor listed.) We aim to have a fun, safe, and drama-free environment providing education!

Mission Statement of the Academy

Those of us who have joined the academy as mentors agree with the growing needs of witchcrafts online community when we look out we see a community that’s closed off, not bringing anything new, and is hard to traverse as a beginner at any age. Here at the Academy, we are attempting to take the obstacles away.

Our main goal is to provide gathered and softly guided information on different aspects of the craft. We are not a religion based school but we do wish to encourage spiritual growth. We hope that those who join the academy walk away with plenty of resources and that, when the time is right for them, are fully prepared to practice and personalize their own craft.

The academy name is so much more than a name. This academy name is a badge that is supposed to represent honour and education. We want to be a safe place of guidance for witches new and old.

Students must be 13+ years of age and have parental permission. This academy operates under the jurisdiction of United States law, which states that in order for a child to be taught anything regarding the concept of religion they must have parental consent. By checking the box on the application which states that you qualify under both of those conditions, you are stating that you take full responsibility that these are true statements.

ACTURIAN ACADEMY UPDATES

Welcome to this week’s updates!

We have had a lot of asks in the past about how you can support the academy, and we would like to formally present our Patreon and Ko-Fi! For those who aren’t familiar, Ko-Fi is a one time donation, while Patreon is typically recurring with rewards for each level! (Click on the link to access!) This is absolutely in no means required to enjoy the academy, but if you would like to help us out with expenses this would mean a ton!

Unfortunately, we are sad to announce that we have let go of Mentor Riley. We received anonymous information through tumblr that they were transphobic, and after investigation and talking with them we discovered that there was truth to the statement. The administrators deliberated over this decision, but it is most important that our students and staff know that you should all feel comfortable in your identities whatever they may be, and that was the major part of our decision. On a different, but also important note, their classes for next semester are being covered by some wonderful new mentors who were brought to the team and we are so excited to have them. All of our pages will be updated to reflect these changes soon!

Witchcraft and your Kitchen

Kitchen witchcraft is often thought of as simply cooking and baking, but there is so much more to it! There’s tons of ways you can incorporate kitchen practices into your craft and make it a part of your everyday life. For example, today let’s look at a great way to keep your space clean, and involve correspondences! It’s simple, easy, and only involves a few ingredients.

Take a small jar of some type (I used a leftover pickle jar that I washed) and place some leftover lemon halves/rinds inside. I used a single lemon that I had squeezed to make a pitcher of tea. Cover the lemon with white vinegar, close the lid tightly and let sit for at least 2 weeks. (This was the hardest part for me, honestly!) Every few days or so walk by and shake it up, getting those good, good lemon particles into the vinegar. After the 2 weeks is up, pour the lemon-vinegar into a spray bottle and mix with water, about 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. Now use it as an all-purpose cleaner! Spray on countertops, microwaves, stoves, inside the fridge, etc! It’s super useful and very simple to make.

Danny, nothing about this sounds like witchcraft. What gives?

Well, let me explain!

First, the acid in lemons is antibacterial and antiseptic, and it acts almost as a natural bleach without being so harsh. The oils in the peel will shine surfaces. The citrus smell of a lemon is refreshing and invigorating, and because of that it’s often associated with happiness, purification, and protection. Plus- you’re reusing scraps you already have laying around the kitchen (if you don’t, make some tea. When in doubt always make tea!). So, go green!

Vinegar is associated with the element Fire, protection, and guarding the home (plus its also an amazing natural cleaning agent).

Finally, and the most important ingredient is your intentions. Whenever you walk by and shake your jar, place both hands on it and close your eyes. Focus in on your intentions and purpose. Is this just intended to clean? Do you want it to also protect your home from bad energy and outside forces (of any or all types)? Pour your energy into the jar and activate it everytime you shake it.

Now spray your countertops with your mixture and wipe down with a rag or paper towel and voila! Also- make it your own! Spray your doorways if you wish, dab a small amount onto your shoes before you leave the house, or wherever you see fit! Make your craft your own and have fun with it!
