Okay so I’m really invested in Lehrer as a character because he’s a shit person but also has a good backstory. Like those serial killers who have a history of abuse and you’re like “oh yeah that makes sense but he’s still crazy” when they go and murder someone, and so I wanna know more about his family and stuff? Like I don’t think it was ever established how older Adawolf is or if it was I didn’t catch it. Or how his parents look and how they treated them since Lehrer and Adawolf “don’t look anything alike”. And there’s no way you can get such an angry kid like Adawolf who hates meds and a manipulative child like Lehrer by being superb parents. Obviously Lehrer was always going to turn out the way he was because he always got what he wanted, but mental disorders are passed down in families which probably means their parents had anger issues in some way and weren’t the best people around
YEAH LIKE nothing about Lehrer’s past excuses what he did, there is no excuse, plenty of people survive horrific things and don’t become monsters, and yet...here he is? And somehow you can trace who he is back to a lot of that, because something in his head or chemistry or genetics just wouldn’t let him process it any other way?
Anyway Adalwolf is 8 years older than Calix. So when Calix was rescued from the hospital at age 16, Wolf was 24. Wolf died when he was age 27-28.
His mother had black hair and eyes, his father had red-blond hair and gray eyes. Wolf got the black hair/eyes combo from their mother, and Calix got his dishwater-blond hair and gray eyes from his father. They were cautious and somewhat conciliatory around Calix given his power, and a tiny bit afraid of Wolf too because he could be so violent. I do wonder sometimes though if there was any of that in them, too. Not violence, but like...mental illness? Because mental illness is often so hereditary, so like, one or both parents likely also dealt with something akin to psychopathy or bipolar disorder (Wolf’s diagnosis), or at the very least someone else in their family did. So yeah you’re right, someone out there in their family had something going on, but I leave it up to y’all to decide what you think the exact situation was!
